Larne is both tbe most modern and the most ancient of places.
In addition to having many attractions of its own, it is also ideally located for those wishing to use Larne or surrounding areas as a base to further explore the Glens of Antrim and scenic Antrim Coast Road, which stretches from the town northwards through the nine glens.
Another link with the past, this is the oldest churchyard in Larne and includes many interesting armorial stones dating back to the early period of the Plantation settlement in the town.

Established in 1988, Larne AC welcomes runners from 15 years old and up, of all abilities or level of fitness.
From the start at Knock Dhu (Linford) carpark, the course took the runners out past Feystown before it left the road and joined the Ulster Way for the run back over the hills to the finish, about three quarters of a mile below the summit of Scawt Hill.
The sixth round of the NIMRA Grand Prix Series took part on Saturday and saw Larne Athletic Club runners compete over a normally very scenic circuit through the high Mournes.

LARNE, a sea port, market and post-town, and a parish, in the barony of UPPER GLENARM, county of ANTRIM, and province of ULSTER, 11 miles (N.) from Carrickfergus, and 97 (N. by E.) from Dublin city, on the road from Belfast city to Ballycastle; containing 3182 inhabitants, of which number, 2616 are in the town.
This place is situated on the shore of Lough Larne, which was formerly called Olderfleet, and gave name to a castle built on the extreme point of the promontory of Curraan, which forms the small bay adjacent to the town.
