Our study consisted of two types of evaluations: 1) the evaluation of Larrea as an inhibitor of Herpes simplex- I (HS V 1) in cell culture; and, 2) the evaluation of Larrea as a clinical treatment for HSV I (oral herpes), Kaposi's sarcoma virus (an AIDS-related sarcoma), and Herpes zoster (chickenpox and shingles).
A preparation of Larrea extract in an aloe-based lotion was effective in reversing the symptoms of nearly all cases of HSV I and shingles within 12-24 hours and in greatly reducing the severity of sores from Kaposi's sarcoma in people with full-blown AIDS.
