Gossett was born in a segregated wing in Seattle’s Broadway Hospital on February 21, 1945, and grew up in the Central Area and Beacon Hill.
Gossett served part of his stint in Harlem, where he was in charge of providing tutoring and recreation to kids under 12.

State law allows counties to assess a fee up to $100 to individuals when they are booked into jail, however councilmember Larry Gossett believes that this is the wrong way to solve the County’s budget problems.
According to Gossett, the largest population groups in the jail are the poor, the mentally ill, the homeless, drug addicts, and alcoholics; and the average person coming into the King County jail has $5.36 on them at the time.

The meeting in Los Angeles, California that was attended by thirty-three Black youths (mostly high school and some college students) was called the West Coast Black Youth Conference, the First Black Power Conference (according to Larry Gossett, one of the founding officers) took place Thanksgiving weekend, 1967.
Other officers were Larry Gossett (presently King County Councilman), Vice President, Eddie Demmings (presently Assistant General Counsel, AFL-CIO), and Minister of Education, Eddie Walker (artist).
