Harlow is a noted jazz and salsa bandleader and multi-instrumentalist, although he primarily plays piano.
Harlow continued with 1974’s Salsa, regarded by some as a key album of the burgeoning 1970’s salsa boom, which featured elements presaging the charanga revival of the latter half of the 70s.
Harlow was a founder member of the Fania All Stars and performed on all their albums up to 1976 (plus 1979’s Habana Jam, recorded in Cuba), he also appeared with them in the movies Our Latin Thing (Nuestra Cosa), Live In Africa and Salsa.

Larry Harlow, lo modernizó, lo trabajó hasta el cansancio, se estimuló en sus composiciones y le rindió homenaje en un álbum grabado tres meses después de la muerte de Arsenio en 1971, Tribute to Arsenio, donde el tres lo toca Yomo Toro, e Ismael Miranda, graduado ya como cantante de quilates, hace el doctorado.
Es que Harlow, un judío neoyorquino de Brooklyn, se crió musicalmente en El Barrio y conoció la música cubana de cerca cuando a finales de los años 50 se va a Cuba y se queda allí dos años, y estudia las raíces afro cubanas con el investigador Fernando Ortiz.
Larry Harlow, cuyo verdadero nombre es Lawrence Ira Khan y denominado el judío maravilloso (otra coincidencia con Arsenio que lo llamaban el cieguito maravilloso) además de compositor y buen pianista, es un productor (fue el tercero después de la pareja Masucci - Pacheco) de álbumes latinos, produciendo hasta 200 grabaciones.

Since I was signed to another label It was NOT a Larry Harlow album and I used the name "Los Tres" referring to the three vocalists that were being used.
No one had really promoted that CD in the 80's and he thought with Harlow's photo on the cover of this very musical CD, it might do well upon a re-release with a different name.
About six months later I received e-mails that the Los Tres Cd, now called Larry Harlow's "ROMANCE in SALSA" is being sold in the large record shops as well as US military installations worldwide.
