Talk:Free will and determinism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I thought that the original page by Larry set out the various viewpoints very succinctly and clearly, but his conclusion that free will must exist was driven apparently by his pre-conceived notion of the need in our society for personal accountability, for the sake of justice.
Larry mentioned science's claim about the uncertainties in nature at the sub-atomic level, as an argument against the determinists' claim to causative links everywhere.
I don't like Larrys arguement, but short of writing a paper criticising it, I'll let it be.

 Larrys Text - Wikipedia
This is a series of introductory philosophy lectures Larry Sanger wrote out completely and read to his unfortunate Ohio State University students in the spring of 1998.
I have (temporarily) saved the text in section-sized chunks, but as I wikify I'm saving it in even smaller chunks.
Since these are lectures, I refer to myself, the students, Ohio State, readings, other lectures I've given (hence, other parts of the wiki) and other stuff that shouldn't belong on the wiki.

Talk:The purpose of government - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While John Locke may be the original source, you did not quote him, nor was there a historical reference in your text.
The articles The purpose of government and The justification of the state are both pieces of User:Larrys Text.
The justification of the state says: "Notice I am using the words "state" and "government" interchangeably here." Therefore I suggest to merge the two into one article, since the (one and the same) author claims they are in essense about the same (unless seomeone wants to split hairs state/govt and purpose/justfn).

David Chalmers is a leading philosopher in the area of philosophy of mind.
Kripke also made interesting contributions to the study of the later Wittgenstein in lectures published as Wittgenstein on Rules and Private Language, although his work here has been faulted for being not particularly true to the historical Wittgenstein.
Indeed, many philosophers refer to the subject of Kripke's book as "Kripkenstein," on the grounds that whoever the text is about, it's not about Wittgenstein.
