Knudsen was involved in the design of two of these submissions.
Knudsen and B. Preneel developed a new framework for the construction of hash functions based on encryption algorithms and linear codes over finite fields.
Knudsen and B. Preneel also developed a new message authentication code based on encryption algorithms, which was baptized MacDES when used with the DES.
