Lake Erie supplies with food the Larus marinus, L. argentatus, L. atricilla, and some others, as well as the Great, the Arctic, the Roseate, and the Black Terns, all of which pass at times over to the Ohio, and from thence to the ocean.
This bird, although in many respects precisely similar to that which is usually named Larus canus in Europe, differs greatly in the size of the bill, which even in young birds is much deeper than in the oldest individuals of that species.

Limits to Egg Size in Gulls: Another Point of View   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
.--Gu]ls (Larus) typically lay 3 eggs, and within the clutch the first egg laid (the a egg) is usually the largest, and the last egg laid (the c egg) is usually the smallest (Mills 1979 and references therein).
Nearly all Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) chicks from eggs smaller than 65 cm 3 died soon after hatching, only 8% of all eggs laid were below this size, and 89% of these were c eggs (Parsons 1970).
We can deduce from these findings that a c egg should be big enough to give the chick hatched from it a reasonable chance to survive and at the same time small enough to ensure its hatching as synchronously as possible with the hatching of the b egg.

CXR Larus delivered the first $276,000 of the order from stock in late November 2004, and the balance of the $2 million order was produced and delivered in the last three weeks of December.

Even though this order caused approximately $500,000 in revenue from CXR and Larus to shift into the first quarter we still expect to meet our planned 2004 profit objectives, and expect only a minimal impact to our stated 2004 revenue goals.
