  Kinghorn School Days
Laskay, Ontario is located within King Township, approximately 40 kilometers north of Toronto.
Kinghorn was located 4 kilometers east of Laskay at King Rd. and Jane St. This settlement was incorporated into the village of King City.
Situated 2 kms north of Laskay, Strange was the location of the elementary school attended by Walter Rolling and his siblings.

 Kinghorn School Days
Between 1895 and 1936 the one-room school house at Kinghorn in King Township, Ontario was run by one individual, a no-nonsense teacher named Walter Rolling.
Walter was the son of Benjamin Rolling, one of the first African Canadians to serve as a Postmaster in Canada, Benjamin’s postal outlet located in his general store in Laskay, Ontario, a store Benjamin ran for 30 years.
Laskay had been the destination chosen by Walter’s grandfather and grandmother when they, and their six children, including Benjamin Jr., immigrated from the United States in 1835.

All shots on the 21st were taken with the sensitivity set to ISO 400, thereby avoiding the distraction of a strobe, and with the white balance set to incandescent.

 Visions of King Township, Ontario
Hamlet of Laskay - Weston Rd south off King Rd, just west of Hwy 400.
At one time, Laskay was a thriving village, with a gristmill, tavern and brothel, woolen mills that attrached farmers from surrounding areas.
Village lots were created in the 1850's, but by the late 1800's all the wooden mills either burned to the ground or were washed away by Humber River floods.

In Ontario this weed first evolved resistance to Group C1/5 herbicides in 1976 and infests corn, and cropland.
