Because the reputation of an artist is frequently tied to the genre in which he or she works, it allows for a reading of a star image to feed into the reception of a particular genre through the criticism and commentary that surrounds the medium.
Last Action Hero illustrates the confusions and the cultural politics which are at stake for Schwarzenegger's heroic action image.

Last Action Hero's dramatic movement toward its fulfillment was overshadowed by clever ideas and action scenes that didn't tie tightly enough into the underlying emotional states of the main characters; or establish a clear purpose toward a goal that the viewers could identify with as revolving around the story's premise.

I loved the action, the humor, (which is basically making fun of typical action films and just how absurd they are, even the ones that are meant to be taken seriously) and the one-liners.
This is not another dumb action movie, this is a film pokeing fun at dumb action films (including some of the ones Swartzenagger's made).
Last Action Hero has an almost Willy Wonka quality to it.
