Susan Polgar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Susan Polgar (born April 19, 1969) is a Hungarian-American chess player, and one of the strongest female players ever, having been Women's World Chess Champion from 1996 until 1999.
However, in November of that year FIDE (with the pressure from the Soviet federation which did not want to see a non-Soviet to be ranked #1) decided to grant 100 bonus ELO rating points to all active female players except her, knocking her out of the top spot in the January, 1987 ratings list.
Polgar sued in the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lausanne, Switzerland for monetary damages and the restoration of her title.

The My Hero Project - Judit Polgarj_polgar
Laszlo Polgar's experiment in manufacturing genius was a controversial one; it actually provoked the opposition of the Hungarian government.
Critics claimed that Laszlo Polgar used questionable methods to train his daughter, and armed government officials once arrived at the door of their home in an attempt to save them from what they saw as a potentially abusive situation.
Laszlo Polgar's experiment may have caused much controversy, but led to the much-delayed acknowledgement that women chess players are capable of competing on an international scale among men.

 Psychology Today: The Grandmaster Experiment
Susan Polgar was perfumed, coiffed, made-up and dressed in a sleek fl pantsuit, an elegant contrast to the boys and young men hunched over their boards in her Queens, New York, chess club.
Chess, the Polgars decided, was the perfect activity for their protogenius: It was an art, a science, and like competitive athletics, yielded objective results that could be measured over time.
Laszlo once found Sophia in the bathroom in the middle of the night, a chessboard balanced across her knees.

Zsuzsa Polgar (born April 19, 1969 in Budapest, Hungary), also known as Susan Polgar, is among the strongest female chess players in history.
The rationale was that Polgar had earned her rating primarly playing against men, whereas other female chess players had deflated ratings from playing in women-only tournaments.
Polgar was not listed in the October 2004 FIDE Elo rating list due to inactivity.

 Traveling with the Polgars
In 1986, I traveled with the Polgar family or took them to tournaments all over the world, to places as far away as Albena, Bulgaria, Copenhagen, Puerto Rico and Rio Gallegos, Argentina (which is near the southern tip of Argentina).
Most people find this difficult to imagine, but the Polgars were hated and indeed despised all over the chess playing world, in spite of the fact that they were very sweet and nice people.
For example, Laszlo Polgar is often compared with Rustam Kamsky, which is a highly inappropriate comparison, because Laszlo Polgar is a very gentile person, whereas Rustam Kamsky is simply a thug.

Gilfry has found his true metier in Don Giovanni - he is a scary, egoistic and sexy menace with a lovely voice.
Polgar as Leporello has an inspiring comic ability paired to a voice like chocolate.
