Because of the fact that Cherries bloom early in the spring and are susceptible to damage from late spring frosts, the site for growing Cherries should be slightly higher and sloped than the surrounding ground to prevent frosty air from settling in the low spots.
If your spring weather is predictable and there isn't a threat of late spring frosts, plant your tree halfway up a south-facing slope or on the south side of your house or garden.
If late spring frosts are typical where you live, plant your tree on the north side to delay flowering in the spring.

Maryland Rose Society: Late Spring/Early Summer Garden Care
Although pruning is primarily an early spring activity, a certain amount is required during the course of the growing season.
Similarly, some of the pruning decisions made in early spring may require correcting in May. There may be growth toward the center of the plant, for example, which can now be remedied by pruning at a somewhat lower level to an outside eye.
In my experience, late weeds appeared as usual in my beds and hand weeding had to be resorted to.

In Yasujiro Ozu's "Late Spring" (1949), Noriko (Setsuko Hara, center) happily lives with her father (Chishu Ryu, left) and is equally happy being single like her friend Aya (Yumeji Tsukioka), but that doesn't stop Noriko's aunt from trying to marry off her niece before she's too old.
Late in the film, threatened by the marriage, Noriko keeps picking things up and putting them on a table, compulsively acting out her domestic happiness.
"Late Spring" is a film about two people who desperately do not believe this, and about how they are undone by their tact, their concern for each other, and their need to make others comfortable by seeming to agree with them.

Spring treatments of the contact herbicides diquat and endothall were effective in reducing curlyleaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus L.) shoot and root biomass, as well as suppressing turion production.
An outdoor mesocosm study was conducted in the spring of 1999 in which plants were treated during three different periods using two rates of each product (either 1 or 2 mg/L).
Both the earlier endothall treatments reduced shoot and root biomass by 90% versus a 60% reduction in shoot and root biomass for the late spring endothall treatment.

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Healthy pines in landscapes may be pruned to control their shape and size and late spring is a good time to get the job done, a Kansas State University horticulturist said.
The dark green, one-inch-long, stiff needles are held on the tree for more than four years making this one of the more dense pines, especially with dwarf mugo varieties.
Kansas pines normally are pruned in late spring when the candles have made full elongation and new needles are starting to pull away.
