  Election 2004: Late-Night Television
I was watching Bill Maher's show Real Time on HBO last night as I was lying in bed, and thought there were a few things worth mentioning.
While I generally feel that Maher is not very acceptable of the few conservative guests he has on the show, I was shocked by what occurred last night.
His first guess was former senator Allen Simpson of Wyoming, a Republican with liberal social views.

 Late Night with David Letterman
Fans of late night television have delighted in the antics of host David Letterman in one form or another since the beginnings of his "talk" show on NBC in 1981.
The Late Show with David Letterman featuring Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra premiered on 30 August 1993, and within weeks had overtaken and passed the Leno show in the ratings race.
Still, as a dedicated and long term late night talk show host, he has provided viewing audiences with zany comedy, great music, and timely, interesting guests.

Television is an industry in which people are handsomely paid for ugly behavior.
Enormously entertaining, "The Late Shift" is by turns, and sometimes simultaneously, very funny and thoroughly appalling.
Interestingly, the only completely sympathetic major characters in "The Late Shift" are Leno and Letterman (although they, too, have their moments), who come off as decent sorts bewildered and bemused by the insanity erupting all around them.

If the former category relies solely on your hearing, the latter applies to any and all of the other four senses, from the artist's image to the album's packaging to the smell of their live show (consider what the average Cannibal Corpse or Cypress Hill fan is bound to smell like).
Being that your first encounter with a record is usually on the second level, it's tempting to dismiss a band like Late Night Television for their album title alone.
It's difficult and ultimately pointless to tell whether Late Night Television lack the heart to follow through on their misery, or whether their feelings are genuine but their method of emotional release is a lot more proactive than that of their eeeemo contemporaries.

A Chrysler spokesman said the ad, first reported in Automotive News, an industry trade magazine, is a tongue-in-cheek attempt to illustrate that the redesigned full-size Durango SUV is longer and wider than the model it replaces.

Poking fun at political figures helps shape their image and is the basis of what is dubbed the “Late-Night Effect.” With its theoretical foundation in agenda-setting, framing, and the two-step flow, the Late-Night Effect explains how the image of political figures are transmitted and spread throughout the nation.
Using survey and focus group data, this thesis establishes the link between late-night television and the perception of political figures and defines the Late-Night Effect.
