The Latrobe Mini Garden Project was started in the Spring of 1993 by a small team of retirees to use welcoming flowers to beautify the Latrobe Area at zero cost to the City of Latrobe.
This was accomplished by using volunteers and donations to build, plant, and maintain 25 such Mini Gardens over a five year period.
Currently, 10 years later, 49 such mini gardens, 20 planters and 8 experimental wildflower gardens provide welcoming color at city entrances, outskirts, athletic fields, the airport terminal, schools, and the Latrobe Area Hospital; still at zero cost to the taxpayers of the Latrobe Area.
