Benjamin Henry Latrobe was born in 1764 at Fulneck in Yorkshire.
It was built as a temple to Apollo, dedicated as a hunting lodge to celebrate the arts and incorporating elements related to Demeter, mother Earth, in relation to the contemporary agricultural revolution.
Anne-Noelle Pinnegar, BA Benjamin Henry Latrobe was born in 1764 at Fulneck in Yorkshire.

Latrobe University has moved it's Council meeting from a main campus, Bundoora, out to a small regional campus at Bendigo today to avoid student protest and scrutiny of it's decision over raising student fees by 25% for all students.
"The university knows that it's move to increase fees is unpopular both with students and the wider community so they have been very underhanded in dealing with this issue" said NUS President Jodie Jansen.
"The behaviour of Latrobe University is an outrage.

La Trobe University is one of eight universities in the State of Victoria, Australia.
Generally these "sandstone" universities are larger, have medical schools, receive greater endowments, have larger libraries and more prestige than the others - but some of the newer universities (such as Monash, which achieved worldwide fame in the in vitro fertilisation field) are serious competitors.
The insurance personnel of the eight universities in Victoria meet four times a year to discuss common issues, and this is extremely beneficial to all participants.

With universities across Victoria holding their annual open days at the moment many Year 12 students are looking at what they want to study and at which university.
Now to try and ensure student numbers, Victoria's Latrobe University is offering to cut the first year HECS fees for agriculture students.
The head of the School of Agricultural Science from LaTrobe University Professor Mark Sandeman says many students are not attracted to agriculture because it is not promoted to them as a viable career option in secondary school.

LaTrobe St routes appear to have run without a route number until 1970.

Industry Minister Mark Birrell has announced a pilot program in which three Victorian Universities — Deakin, RMIT and Latrobe — are receive more than $100,000 each to appoint Technology Diffusion Coordinators (TDC) to seek out potential commercial opportunities in knowledge-based industries.
The program is aimed at facilitating the spread of university knowledge into the business environment as part of a plan to ensure good ideas have every opportunity to be commercialised.
The Deakin coordinator will be based at the University’s Geelong campus, operating within the Faculty of Science and Technology.
