		Representatives of Latvijas Unibanka stated that prior loans from the EBRD have gone been managed well and only 15 percent have gone to companies in Riga, while the rest has been distributed in rural areas.
		Unibanka also stated that by six-month figures, the bank's corporate clients have now numbered over 40,000, most of which are small businesses.
		The EBRD has granted Latvijas Unibanka two credit lines until now, worth a total 20 million euros for loans to small and medium businesses, but this is the first time a credit line is granted for leasing deals.

		Latvijas Unibanka, in cooperation with TietoEnator, is the first bank in the Baltics which completely has accomplished certification by MasterCard International and has commenced to issue smart cards of MasterCard brand.
		In the course of certification, TietoEnator experts held consultations for Unibanka’s staff concerning the requirements of MasterCard International with regard to issuing of EMV standard smart cards and also assisted in arrangements to meet these requirements by the bank.

		Although the GDP structure of the three Baltic states is quite similar, Vilks added, Latvia is experiencing the quickest development in service sector, while the growth and share of industry in the national economy is much smaller than in the neighbouring countries.
		According to the estimates of "Unibanka", the Latvian branch of SEB, Latvia's GDP growth in 2004 was 8.2%, while the figures for Lithuania and Estonia are 6.8% and 6.1% respectively.
