  Launceston
The Launceston Football Club was formed in 1875, making it the oldest club in Tasmania, but it was not until 1882, and the establishment of the Northern Football Association, that organised football can genuinely be said to have got underway (see footnote 1).
Launceston was one of three senior clubs to participate in the NTFA in its initial year, but one of the other clubs, Longford, was involved in a dispute with the association which eventually led to its withdrawal from the competition in July.
Launceston won its 13th premiership that year and, in the state premiership play off against Cananore, was desperately unlucky to lose by 2 points after amassing 25 scoring shots to 17.

Cooley, whose first-class career was ended in 1994 by two serious back injuries, first encountered Jones, Flintoff and a very raw Harmison when they were sent to the Australian Cricket Academy, where he was working with Marsh, in Adelaide four years ago.
He saw instantly that they were tall and strong with high actions, and there was something to work with, but he had little idea that in the longer term he would be the one to work with them.
Cooley has also established a country-wide fast-bowling program, similar to Cricket Australia's Pace Australia initiative, that identifies young quicks from the age of 15 in preparation for the academy.
