Laura is a literary figure included in Italian poet Petrarch's works.
It has often been believed that the name "Laura" was a play on the name "laurel" the leaves which Petrarch was honoured with for being the poet laureate.
Born 6 years after Petrarch in 1310 in Avignon she was the daughter of Audibert de Noves (a Knight) and wife to Hugues II de Sade (and possibly the ancestor of the infamous Marquis de Sade).

There was (so I was told) hair found on Laura's jacket but it is not known whether it was Laura's hair or even her dog's hair (or maybe the killer's hair?) Why was this not investigated, at least through process of elimination i.e., rule out the dog's hair if it was not his, etc.

Recently, however, I called this person on one of the letters, saying that the article that was sent was slanted; the facts were written to pitch the author's opinion, and not all the facts were presented as shown.
I don't think it would have made a person support or not support the troops any differently, but it does promote awareness of the issue and it's simply a gentle reminder that there's a family living there with a soldier in Iraq.
(Personally, I still think their home owner's association mailbox flag issue is absolutely ridiculous.
