 The Head Heeb: Airline clash
The failure of Tonga's national airline has reignited the conflict between Tonga's democracy movement and the royal family, with seven of the nine elected MPs calling on Prince Ulukalala Lavaka Ata to resign as Prime Minister.
Prince Lavaka was the chairman of the airline's board prior to its collapse, and the MPs are arguing that his resignation is needed to restore some semblance of accountability to the kingdom's finances.
The elected MPs, however, are heavily outnumbered by the nobles and royally appointed ministers who hold 21 of 30 seats in Parliament, and as in the past, their opposition is unlikely to be effective.
