LaGG-3 35.4K/I-301 (Lavochkin, Gorbunov and Goudkov) - Refined LaGG-1, with palliatives introduced to cure the worst faults of the LaGG-1.
Lavochkin managed to modify the LaGG-3 to accept this engine, despite the lack of official support.
The engine intake was in the nose, the engine outlet ended after the wing, below the tail, to reduce trust losses.

Lavochkin died in 1960 at a time when the bureau had basically no projects left on its table.
Therefore a final government decree on 20 May 1954 authorised the Lavochkin and Myasishchev aircraft design bureaux to proceed in parallel with full-scale development of trisonic intercontinental cruise missiles.

 Araks military spacecraft
According to NPO Lavochkin's official history, (118) the project, which led to Cosmos-2344, started in mid-1980s with the development of a multi-mission platform "based on the Arkon satellite." The original secret mission of the spacecraft has not been described in this source; instead, NPO Lavochkin listed the Arkon among the platforms available for commercial applications.
According to Lavochkin, the Arkon's high-altitude orbit, which stunned independent observers of Cosmos-2344, allows the satellite to scan wide areas on the surface of the Earth, and to cover the same regions during different orbital passes, as well as to look at the same targets from different angles.
Even though NPO Lavochkin identified Cosmos-2344 as the Arkon, this is apparently a "marketing" name of the platform, which is applied to a civilian reincarnation of the spacecraft.

Although there are no ground-search teams currently working in the area, Lavochkin placed a classified ad in the local newspaper asking the population to inform the center on any mission-related findings.
Lavochkin representatives said that they are still negotiating with their European partners about the financial issues of the mission and a possible launch date for the experiment.
Lavochkin would prefer to refly the device as early as October, however, their European partners believe that more realistic launch date is the first quarter of 2001.

Konstantin Pichkhadze, who manages the IRDT project at Lavochkin, told SPACE.com on Wednesday that the company is seriously considering using a Russian sub as a launch pad for a converted submarine-based missile known as Volna.

 Lavochkin's Last Jets
The Lavochkin OKB produced what was arguably the best piston-engined fighter of the Second World War, the La-7.
This latest title in the Red Star Series covers these last jets of Lavochkin, building on earlier volumes in the series (Volume 4 covered the early Lavochkin jets, the 150, 152, 156, and 174TK; and Volume 19 covered the last Lavochkin jet, the La-250 "Anaconda").
Lavochkin's penultimate jet fighter design, the Aircraft 200, tried to capture the all-weather fighter market, but the writing was on the wall and this design also failed.

 Lavochkin Fighters 1/72 Scale
Soviet La-5 - This is a model of a fighter that flew against the Luftwaffe on the Eastern Front during the Battle of Stalingrad in December, 1942.
It was the result of an order to Soviet fighter manufacturers in 1941 to try and use Shvetsov M-82 radial engines in their planes, because the factory where they were built was beyond the range of German bombers.
Along with Soviet-built Yak fighters, Lavochkin fighters were the mainstays of the Soviet Fighter Aviation Regiments in WWII.

 Lavochkin La-7
The Lavochkin La-7 was the ultimate wooden Lavochkin fighter, and very likely the best fighter aircraft of the entire war, on either side.
The excellent performance of the La-7 combined with a veteran pilot made it nearly untouchable but more importantly it kept novices from succumbing to the enemy before they could acquire the necessary combat skills.
Lavochkin began work on an interim fighter, which would replace much, but not all, of the aircraft's frame including the wing spars with metal alloys, but keeping the laminated wood exterior.

 Russia's science and research spacecraft
The inflatable reentry technology, known as IRDT, was originally developed by the Khimki-based NPO Lavochkin design bureau for a Martian lander, within the Mars-96 project.
Later the technology was adapted for use in low-Earth orbit and tested in three different configurations during two launches in 2000 and 2001.
At the time, one or two of these missions were expected to go into lunar orbit, according to Roskosmos.

Lavochkin simplified the design, using the antenna as a thermal radiator and circulating the gas from the main compartment through pipes that spiraled behind the parabolic dish.
Lavochkin was intensely busy during this time, with a series of heavy and sophisticated Moon probes (sample return missions, and the Lunokhod rovers).
Lavochkin engineers had designed a second generation of multipurpose planetary probes, five times the size of V-72 and launched by the Proton rocket.

Lavochkin La-5FN - The Air Combat Wiki
To prevent the interruption of fighter production the Yakovlev, Lavochkin, and Mikoyan design teams were ordered to adapt their designs to accept the 1,676 hp Shvetsov M-82 14-cylinder radial engine, which was manufactured in Perm and was thus not threatened by the Nazi advance.
Being occupied with improving the reliability and survivability of the LaGG-3, the Lavochkin design team didnít even start their conversion until after the converted MiG and Yak prototypes had already flown.
The end result of their meeting was that Shvetsov sent top engineers to the Lavochkin factory to lend assistance in the conversion process and to help solve any problems that were discovered during testing.

Georgy Polishchuk, head of the Lavochkin Association, has hopes for an unmanned mission that will travel to a Martian moon, search for signs of life on the red planet and try to unlock the universe's secrets.
But the Lavochkin group has not however experienced the massive talent drain suffered by other Russian technology firms, Polishchuk said, although the average salary of about $560 per month isn't much better than the pay for starting cashiers at the Swedish furniture store IKEA across the street.
Funding problems at the Lavochkin Association are being resolved largely due to renewed state help, as well as projects with other countries such as Canada, China, France, Italy and even the United States, Polishchuk said.

Lavochkin La 5 Review by Brett Green (Gremlin Models 1/48)
The Lavochkin La-5 was significant as one of the first Soviet fighters capable of dominating its German counterparts.
Initial impressions are that a large amount of filler will be required where the lower leading and trailing edges of the wing meets the fuselage; and some puttying of the upper wing roots will be necessary too.
Make no mistake, Gremlin Models' Lavochkin La-5 is not in the same class as modern injection moulded kits.

Hopes for improved performance in the Lavochkin fighter were thus pinned on adopting the new M-71 radial, but development problems with the engine kept it from entering service until after the war.
That left the Lavochkin team with making improvements to the airframe in order to get better performance.
Working with a basic La-5 airframe, considerable changes were made to aerodynamic structure by moving inlets and a careful redesign of the cowl.

The LA5FN marks the middle stage in the development of Lavochkin's propeller driven fighters, begun in 1940 by the Lagg 1 and culminating with the La 11 in 1947.
The La-5FN typifies front-line fighter aircraft of its era, although the critical shortages of aluminium and aluminium alloys had dictated that Lavochkin used mainly wooden construction for the airframe.
The first non Soviet unit to receive the Lavochkin fighter was the 1st at Czech fighter regiment and was incorporated in the 2nd Air Army under the command of experienced group of Czechoslovak pilots who had previously flown in the RAF.
