Law of accumulation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Accumulation can refer to a cumulative or compound increase in a variable, or to capital accumulation.
The growth of capital proceeds via an increase in the organic composition of capital and goes together with the proletarianization of the population.
In Henryk Grossman's theory, capital accumulation leads to a gradual decline of the rate of profit, culminating in a collapse of the capitalist system.

Henryk Grossman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Henryk Grossman/Grossmann (1881-1950) was born in Kraków and studied law and economics in Kraków and Vienna.
Grossman's Law of Accumulation and Breakdown of the Capitalist System was finally made available in English translation in 1979 by Jairus Banaji, for an Indian Trotskyist organisation, the Platform Tendency.
The Law of Accumulation was his attempt to demonstrate that marxian political economy had been underestimated by its critics - and by extension that revolutionary critiques of capitalism were still valid.

Accumulation and the concentration accompanying it are, therefore, not only scattered over many points, but the increase of each functioning capital is thwarted by the formation of new and the sub-division of old capitals.
But in fact, it is capitalistic accumulation itself that constantly produces, and produces in the direct ratio of its own energy and extent, a relatively redundant population of labourers, i.e., a population of greater extent than suffices for the average needs of the self-expansion of capital, and therefore a surplus-population.
Accumulation of wealth at one pole is, therefore, at the same time accumulation of misery, agony of toil, slavery, ignorance, brutality, mental degradation, at the opposite pole, i.e., on the side of the class that produces its own product in the form of capital.

Accumulation of capital is, therefore, increase of the proletariat.
The accumulation of capital, though originally appearing as its quantitative extension only, is effected, as we have seen, under a progressive qualitative change in its composition, under a constant increase of its constant, at the expense of its variable constituent.
The law, finally, that always equilibrates the relative surplus-population, or industrial reserve army, to the extent and energy of accumulation, this law rivets the labourer to capital more firmly than the wedges of Vulcan did Prometheus to the rock.

Economic Manuscripts: Capital Vol. I - Chapter Twenty-Five
Accumulation of capital is, therefore, increase of the proletariat.
But accumulation, the gradual increase of capital by reproduction as it passes from the circular to the spiral form, is clearly a very slow procedure compared with centralisation, which has only to change the quantitative groupings of the constituent parts of social capital.

"The General Law of Capitalist Accumulation," Marx asserts that the primary direct consequence of the process of capitalist accumulation is to raise the wage rate.
BTW, the wage squeeze on profits in K3 leads to a cutback in the rate of accumulation (as in Richard Goodwin's famous model) in addition to a rise in the t.c.c.
But in Marx's cycle theory of K3, the slowed accumulation of capital eventually recreates the conditions for booming accumulation by purging imbalances from the system (such as high wages), so that eventually interest rates are pulled up again.
