Law of sines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In trigonometry, the law of sines (or sine law) is a statement about arbitrary triangles in the plane.
When using the law of sines to solve triangles, under special conditions there exists an ambiguous case where two separate triangles can be constructed (i.e., there are two different possible solutions to the triangle).
If two sides of the triangle are equal to R and the length of the third side, the chord, is given as 100' (30.48 m) and the angle C opposite to the chord is given in degrees, then angle A = angle B = :

The 'Underneath The Window' single was recorded and released in the midst of the Poll Tax troubles and came with a poster that had a collage of anti-Poll Tax material adorned with the message 'The Orchids say don't pay the Poll Tax'.

And whilst maybe it's just my snobbery that prefers the initial print-sun sleeve of shades of blue over the starker blue and white later version, it was nevertheless another fairly horrid sleeve housing a fantastic record.

The Law of Sines is no good for that because it relates two sides and their opposite angles.
Instead, what I hope to do is show you that between the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines you can solve any triangle, and that you simply pick which law to use based on which one has just one unknown and otherwise uses information you already have.
With the first form equation 30 of the Law of Cosines you use all the sides to compute one angle.

 Solution by Law of Tangents
The law of tangents is expressed in words as follows: In any triangle the difference between two sides is to their sum as the tangent of half the difference of the opposite angles is to the tangent of half their sum.
For the triangle shown in figure 1-27, you know the lengths of two sides and the size of the angle between them.
You can determine the sizes of the other two angles by applying the law of tangents as follows.
