This new building won a "Award of Merit" from Canadian Architect magazine in 2003, got a Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council and scored 46 at the LEED points scale which was, at inauguration, the highest score ever obtained in Canada.
It is well known for its vivid student life, including its theater group Poly-Théâtre and photo club Poly-Photo.
Its student newspaper, (French) Le Polyscope was Founded in 1967.

Le Reveil is divided on whether they'd like to see something like that in the Manitoban, though it's not going to happen, regardless.
First Le Polyscope, at École polytechnique de Montréal (the place where Dec. 6 happened), then at Concordia Français (former Concordia French-language newspaper, has now become kinda-bilingual L'Organe) and finally at The Link (I stayed because the people are nice there)

Produced by the Selig Polyscope Co., one of the first companies to move its operations to Hollywood, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1910) begins a little differently than the more familiar 1939 MGM version.
Dorothy (Bebe Daniels) befriends the animated Scarecrow prior to her departure via cyclone, and is accompanied on the voyage not only by the Scarecrow and Toto, but some of the livestock from the family farm: a cow and donkey.
Oz is clearly in the Melies mold, replete with levitating beauties, costumed troops marching upon the cramped stage, painted backdrops, and acrobatic imps that appear in puffs of smoke.

 Film History Before 1920
Other early motion picture films (two short fragments survive, one of which was titled Traffic Crossing Leeds Bridge) were taken with a camera devised and patented by French-born Louis Le Prince in 1888.
The work of Muybridge, Marey and Le Prince laid the groundwork for the development of motion picture cameras and projectors - hence the development of cinema.
American inventor George Eastman provided a more stable type of celluloid film with his concurrent developments in 1888 of sensitized paper roll film (instead of glass plates) and a convenient "Kodak" small box camera (a still camera) that used the roll film.

This curio would have only had a short life-span before it was destroyed.

He decided to take to the stage himself, in 1908, with the aid of the newfangled motion picture.
He produced, with the help of the Selig Polyscope film company, several short film segments involving Oz characters.
Baum himself would introduce these segments from the stage, and provide narration as they played.
