LEROI MOORE   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
Leroi Moore was born an only child on September 7th, 1961 in Durham, North Carolina.
Leroi began playing the alto saxophone in his junior high school band and it wasn't long before he took up the tenor sax as well.
Moore, who carries eleven instruments with him on tour, may not always stand out while reserved in the shadows onstage, but the accomplished saxophonist is definitely not shy with his music.

That would be par for the course for the guy who co-wrote the DMB's Grammy-winning "So Much to Say" before he left the band in 1993, just as they were about to record their debut and explode into a stadium-touring phenomenon.
Despite the presence of Moore and Reynolds on three of the album's twelve songs, the music on Superfastgo is clearly the work of a man with a twisted pop vision that would leave the average Dave-head a bit speechless.
Though he's suspicious of attempts to lure him back into the Matthews world, Griesar says it was only natural that he call old friend Moore to sit in on the disco funk tune, "Spy Girl." Not coincidentally, the track is the most DMB-sounding one on the album, inevitable given that it was his ex-manager's idea.

More interesting, though, is the modernist string arrangement played by the Kronos Quartet on the driving "Halloween." Matthews's obvious hopes to lead something other than a jam band are at least partly fulfilled here; at the same time, Streets should keep his customers satisfied.
The lyrics are a glad swirl of pop storytelling and trippy mystery, brought to life by the usual confluence of saxophones, violin and precise guitar work that makes this group tick.

The band began when George and "Miss Lucy" (as he calls his weathered Hammond B3) stopped by to sit in with the Sunday night trio at Toyko Rose which consisted of Carter Beauford, LeRoi Moore, and myself usually playing a mix of R&B and Jazz standards.
Yet as life would have it, Carter and LeRoi left the band after a year to form a group with Dave Matthews to go on to well deserved fame and fortune, leaving the spark that was started innocently, still glowing.
Later, Blue Indigo began to take shape again, and after various testings and incarnations another union was formed--with the brashness and commitment that lies at the heart of Blue Indigo, but also possessing a decided cleverness and elan, lead by the undauntable spirt of Jeff Decker and the solid support and creativity of Phil Riddle.
