As WERL use local as well as Uni bands, gigs tend to be held in Leamington, but we're hoping to expand in coventry, as well as exploring other ventures such as acoustic nights in smaller venues.
WERL Records is the University's first ever record label - designed to expose, promote and market the music of new bands both on and off campus in Leamington, Coventry, Birmingham and the surrounding area.
We need people to keep their ears open for good and bad times to have a gig (ie there is no point in doing a gig in leamington the same night as crash in the union!) and for people to scout out and contact good venues for gigs.

 Men's Hockey Rallies For 1-1 Overtime Tie At Robert Morris :: Michel nets game-tying goal in third period.
Michel's third goal of the season was assisted by sophomore left wing Jason Baclig (Leamington, Ont./Leamington Flyers) and sophomore defenseman Dan Iliakis (Scarborough, Ont./Georgetown Raiders).
After being outshot 8-7 in the opening period, WSU held advantages in the final three periods (17-6 in the second period, 14-5 in the third period and 3-2 in overtime).
WSU trailed the host Colonials 1-0 heading into the third period but scored the equalizer when freshman right wing Tylor Michel (Sudbury, Ont./Owen Sound Greys) ripped a shot past the Colonial netminder just 75 seconds into the third period.

WERL Records is the University's first ever record label - designed to expose, promote and market the music of new bands both on and off campus in Leamington, Coventry, Birmingham and the surrounding area.
This is a great opportunity to be creative, some of last year's promotional tacks included lollies with the WERL website on them and a balloon drop in Top B with flyers stuck to them!
The stall runs one day a week in the union and at every WERL gig.

 Battle for home-ice advantage
Fourth place is on the line tonight at Lanctin Arena when the London Nationals play host to the Leamington Flyers at 7:30 p.m.
 Sarnia, Petrolia and Chatham are in a tight battle for the top three spots in the league, so the St. Thomas Stars (sixth), Tecumseh Chiefs (seventh) and St. Mary Lincolns (eighth) are still waiting to see who they face in the first round.
 It will be a preview of a first round best-of-seven matchup between the two teams in the Western Junior B Hockey League, but who gets home ice advantage hinges on the outcome.

Blain's tally - the Flyers' first of the game - gave the fans a chance to throw their teddy bears onto the ice.
The Flyers helped collect the stuffed animals which were loaded onto the Toys For Tots vehicle driven by Lorne Bradt.
Morin's shot bounded off Kohuch and was picked up by Ken Blain who drilled a shot past the Chatham netminder.

Strathroy grabbed a 1-0 lead at 6:54 when a rebound from behind the Flyers ended up unexpectedly on Tyler Fagan's stick and Fagan shovelled it past Flyers' starter Justin Martin.
Chris Simpson and Marc Morin sent Ken Blain down the left lane at 13:43 and Blain ripped a shot that eluded Strathroy netminder Steve Gerstenberger to knot the contest.

 Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Brad Selwood
Born in Leamington, Ontario, Selwood was taken tenth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1968 after he registered 33 points for the Niagara Falls Flyers of the OHA.
Prior to the 1972-73 season, Selwood was lured to the WHA by the New England Whalers.
Selwood was sent down to the minors the next year and retired in 1982.
