Leasowe Lighthouse stands on Leasowe Common and is a well known landmark on Wirral.
The present lighthouse at Leasowe was used as the lower light when the previous lower lighthouse collapsed and the upper light was built on Bidston Hill in 1771, three miles away.

They all allegedly either show a lighthouse or Life Saving Station at some point or are cameras with a view from a lighthouse or Life Saving Station.
As is the nature of webcams, some of them could be down at any time, or they could be pointing at something other than a lighthouse.

The Station Manager this year is Geoff G4WUA, a member of both WADARC and The Friends of Leasowe Lighthouse.
After extensive tests, Geoff is planning to use a Windom and a long wire in a different configuration than previous years, as tests have shown reduced local noise levels, but as always we depend on good HF conditions.
This is the oldest brick built lighthouse in the United Kingdom and is regularly open to visitors on a Sunday.

Places worth looking at on land include the Moreton conservation area just next to Leasowe lighthouse (see the friends of Leasowe Lighthouse Web site), an area of standing water, wildflower meadow and reed bed, although it does suffer from some disturbance.
The whole area behind the embankment is worth exploring for resting migrants and nesting birds in the sand dunes and scrub.

Red Rocks to the south-west are easy to locate, but the north-eastern boundary is a little more tricky, especially when you are a considerable distance away from the sea wall.
Dove Point is before the Leasowe Lighthouse (not shown on the map) which has recently been given a new coat of bright white paint.
You are advised to stay well away from the groyne as it has a sewage outlet close by.

Behind the lighthouse is Lingham Lane heading across the fields towards Moreton.

 LIVERPOOL ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY SIDEWALK ASTRONOMERS (LASSA)
This event took place on Friday the 22th of January at Leasowe Lighthouse at the end of the Wirral peninsula.
The event was arranged by Geoff Regan and Dave Owen and where helped out by the Wirral Ranger Service and ‘The Friends of Leasowe Lighthouse’.
We arrived at around 6:30pm and the Rangers opened up a gate at the side of the lighthouse to give access to a large hardstanding area ideal for setting up telescopes and keeping feet dry!
