Leave it to Beaver is maybe the saddest example of a show that was so very good (it's still my favorite show) that went incredibly wrong.
Leave It to Beaver never jumped although it came close when Beaver hit puberty (though his wasn't nearly as bad as Jennifer Keaton's would be thirtysome years later).
LITB always had a lesson that 'the Beave' learned at the end of the show and, corny as it sounds, my daughter and I sometimes discuss some of those lessons, and she ties them in with some of the things she deals with at school and at home on a daily basis.
