The Lebanese American University is an American institution chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and operating in Lebanon.
In the same year, it received provisional accreditation from the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York; in 1955, the Board authorized the College to grant Associate's and Bachelor's degrees.
In 2005, over 6,000 students were enrolled in the four schools of the University: the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the School of Engineering and Architecture and the School of Pharmacy.

The Lebanese International University (LIU; Arabic: الجامعة اللبنانية الدولية‎) was established in April, 2001, as "The Bekaa University", with its campus in Bekaa, Al-Khyara, Al Bekaa Al Gharbi, and has since graduated its first Freshman class in June 2002.
With a vision of becoming a true national university with international presence, a new campus in Beirut was opened and the name was changed to: "Lebanese International University (LIU)".
The mission of the Lebanese International University is to provide the highest possible quality of higher education, training and research, in order to meet the needs of individuals and the communities and enterprises both in Lebanon and in the whole Arab world.

The Lebanese University is the only public institution for higher learning in Lebanon.
The Lebanese University was established in 1951 to serve the diverse social groups that comprise Lebanese society, and to provide a high-level institution in which students can acquire university degrees.
Until 1975, the physical locations of all faculties and institutions were in Beirut and its suburbs, but during 1976 and due to the Lebanese Civil War additional branches were founded in Beirut and the governorates of Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon, South Lebanon and Bekaa.

Graduates of the public Lebanese University are not required to sit for the colloquium exams.
International students are admitted to Lebanese universities under the same conditions as Lebanese students, provided that they hold a qualification equivalent to the Lebanese Baccalaureate.
Lebanese students attending these institutions most often sit for both the Lebanese Baccalaureate exams as well as the foreign certificate exam, as the government does not accord the latter equivalency with the Lebanese Baccalaureate for Lebanese students studying home.

PLAN OF The Lebanese Emigration Research Center (LERC) is a new academic initiative of Notre Dame University (NDU).
Lebanese emigrants have adapted well to their new homelands, many of them becoming elected officials, surgeons, lawyers, businessmen, traders, professors, etc. Though they have contributed greatly to their adopted lands, they have remained attached to Lebanon, if not physically, at least culturally and spiritually.
The first of these workshops was implemented in the summer of 2004 in Zgharta and Ehden, which were chosen as for the initial pilot project because of the constant and continuous migration movements from and to these towns and the ongoing contact between their sons and daughters at home and abroad.
