In the time of the third partition of Poland, 1795, Chmielnik was taken over by Austria and remained under its management until 1809, when she was attached to the Duchy of Warsaw.
Between 1815 and 1837, Chmielnik belonged to the Tzoozmirer (Sandomierz) voivodship of the Polish Kingdom and between 1837-1914 to the Kielce gubernia.
To the province of Krakow-Tzoozmir belonged the communities of the voivodship Krakow, Tzoozmir (Sandomierz), a portion of Kujawy and Leczyca and a number of communities of the Rus' and Belz voivodships.
