Led Zeppelin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Led Zeppelin also featured delicate acoustic guitar on "Black Mountain Side", and a combination of acoustic and electric approaches on the reworked folk song "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You." The immediate success of the first album kick-started the band's career, especially in the United States, where they would frequently tour.
In 1974, Led Zeppelin launched their own record label called Swan Song, named after one of only five songs that the band never recorded for commercial release (the track was re-tooled as "Midnight Moonlight" by Page's post-Zeppelin band The Firm on their first album).
Led Zeppelin again showed their impressive range with songs like the lush and complex "Ten Years Gone", the acoustic "Black Country Woman", the driving "Trampled Under Foot" and the thundering, Indian-Arabic-tinged "Kashmir".

 VH1.com : Led Zeppelin : Biography
Led Zeppelin IV was the band's most musically diverse effort to date, featuring everything from the crunching rock of "Black Dog" to the folk of "The Battle of Evermore," as well as "Stairway to Heaven," which found the bridge between the two genres.
Led Zeppelin launched a large American tour in 1975, but it came to a halt when Robert Plant and his wife suffered a serious car crash while vacationing in Greece.
Led Zeppelin immediately canceled the tour and offered no word whether or not it would be rescheduled, causing widespread speculation about the band's future.

 Led Zeppelin Album Reviews
Only Led Zeppelin IV (or whatever you want to call it) can seriously rival Physical Graffiti for the title of “best Led Zeppelin album,” and the band immediately delivers on the muscular “Custard Pie,” which is followed by the melodic “The Rover,” one of the band’s most underrated songs.
The album begins with the eerie effects and powerful guitar swirl of “In The Evening,” which also contains a cocky Plant vocal that confidently told the punk pretenders (who had cropped up in the band’s absence and who were supposed to render older rockers such as Led Zeppelin irrelevant) who was still boss.
Considering that the album barely passes the 33-minute mark and consists of a mere eight songs, it would also be nice to see the three previously unavailable songs from the box set tacked onto a future reissue, which would give the band’s fans more bang for their buck while also boosting this album’s stock considerably.

Robert Plant had to sing this entire album from a wheelchair; John Bonham's problems with alcohol continued although his drumming is probably the strongest thing on the album; and Jimmy Page was a crack and, I believe, smackhead.

Zeppelin was essentially a derivative blues cover band at their essence, yeah, but they were the virtual essence of larger than life, epic, overblown and mysterious hard rock.
For many, too, this is Led Zep's crowning moment, because as a transitional moment between the 'hardcore blues period' and the 'later mystical period' it manages to combine some of the elements of both and thus stands out as a defining statement in the whole metal movement.
It isn't a bad album, of course, and if there is any such thing as a 'great' Led Zeppelin album, this is probably their last one.

 Led Zeppelin
For those legions of fans who have never seen a Zeppelin concert there is very little in the official catalogue to satisfy the desire to hear Led Zeppelin's dynamic on stage performances.
Page recorded an unsatisfactory album with Deep Purple's David Coverdale in 1993, but then 1994 saw Page and Plant two-thirds of the way to a reformation with their ironically titled UNLEDDED project, though John Paul Jones was conspicuous by his absence (for want of an invitation).
Although their commercial success is unquestionable, Led Zeppelin are now rightly recognized as one of the most influential bands of the rock era and their catalogue continues to provide inspiration to successive generations of musicians.

One of the all-time greatest rock bands, Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 with Jimmy Page (formerly of the Yardbirds) on guitar,; Robert Plant as vocalist, John Bonham on drums,; and John Paul Jones on bass/keyboards.
Their second album, Led Zeppelin II,; (1969),; brought further success buoyed by top ten single, "Whole Lotta Love." The old-time blues and acoustic tunes on Led Zeppelin III (1970) were less popular than earlier efforts, but Zeppelin returned the following year with their most acclaimed work ever.
