Led Zeppelin was a British band noted for their innovative, influential approach to heavy blues-rock and as one of the most popular and influential bands of the 1970s.
In 1974, Led Zeppelin launched their own record label called Swan Song, named after one of only five songs that the band never recorded for commercial release (the track was re-tooled as "Midnight Moonlight" by Page's post-Zeppelin band The Firm on their first album).
Zeppelin travelled in a private jet, rented out entire sections of hotels, and became the subjects of many of rock's most famous stories of debauchery: trashed hotel rooms, sexual escapades, and heavy use of drugs and alcohol.

Zeppelin is his favorite band of all time, they are his band, no other band (Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction are the only ones that come remotely close with him) seems to really matter.
This is definitely one of Zeppelin's finest moments in terms of crafting a song, where they put their libido aside, their blues band stuff aside, and just wrote a solid song through and through.
Led Zeppelin III doesn't get the airplay that the other 3 self titled albums does, and that's perfectly fine with me. Because of that, this album sounds fresh and invigorating with every listen.

Led Zeppelins finest hour - it encapsulates everything good they ever did with absolutely stunning performances from all 4 members of the band - I can (& do) listen to it time & again.
Anyone approaching Led Zeppelin via their legend as the 'first heavy metal band' will be utterly bemused by all of this of course but that is because they were more than just a heavy metal band - but hey we all know that don't we?
Something this good is a very rare occurance, It was the first Les Zeppelin album I ever bought (I had not heard many of the songs off this album and I liked the bad cover art, so it was going to be great, and it certainly is).

Some might not like this album, because it doesn't have some of the long, extravagent solos that most Zeppelin albums have, but the riffs on his acoustic are some of the best.
This is a song that is played on th e radio a lot, and is a more well known song by zeppelin.

I'm 48 and saw them 3 times....the first time was 1971 and Zep III was their latest record, although they were already doing the hits from IV.
Led Zeppelin III is my favorite Zep album and "That's the Way" is my favorite Zep song.
Classic Rock has just about killed Zeppelin for me, so III is my favorite these days to for the same reasons.

III showed that Zep is about music, not about Zep, because they love all music and get into it all.
Led Zeppelin III is probably my favorite LZ album, maybe my favorite album ever.

It consists of Zeppelinized acoustic Delta Blues, rather than the Chicago Blues from Led I and II, so you will not find a single heavy riff on any song here--except, of course, the radio staple Immigrant Song.
I own every Led album, and although this one took me the longest to get into, it has become one of my favorites--because it's made of the kind of songs that, once they get in your head, refuse to get out.
