Lee County is a county located in the State of Virginia.
It was named for Light Horse Harry Lee, Governor of Virginia from 1791 to 1794, known as "Light Horse Harry" for his exploits as a leader of light troops in the American Revolutionary War.
In the county, the population is spread out with 22.80% under the age of 18, 8.00% from 18 to 24, 27.50% from 25 to 44, 26.30% from 45 to 64, and 15.40% who are 65 years of age or older.

I was born December 8, 1838 in Yokum Station, Lee County, Virginia a half mile West of Old Green Hill Methodist Church on my father's farm which is now owned by the heirs of the late Creed F. Flanary of Wise County, Virginia.
We went to Camp Jackson in Wythe County, Virginia near the town of Wytheville, where we were drilled by Capt. John W. Amis of St. Louis, Missouri till about the 1st of July when we were ordered out in the mountains of West Virginia.
On the 4th Thursday in May about 20 days after I was wounded the people of Lee County elected me to the office of Commissioner of the Revenue for the Eastern half of the county and some few months after I came home the authorities at Richmond sent me a discharge from military duty.

HICKS assaulted the correctional officer inside the federal penitentiary in Lee County, Virginia on August 31, 2003, by punching the correctional officer in the left eye.
Due to his prior criminal history, HICKS faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000 when he is sentenced on May 14, 2004 at 11:00 a.m.

I have had the good fortune to spend much time in Lee county, as well as the other Virginia Counties that the Ely's lived in.
David and Sarah Claypoole Ely in Lee County in 1796......To my knowledge none of the Ely's settled in Lee County until 1796-98.
John Ely son of Thomas and Jane made an exploratory trip from Montgomery County Virginia to Lee County to scout for property, and find out if Lee county was sufficiently civilized, little if any indian activity, for the familly to move to Lee County.
