MacPhail said Lee is out of touch with the community he wants to represent, noting 60 per cent of Vancouver-Hastings residents are renters, yet Lee recently took the side of an East Side landlord accused of leaving his tenants without heat.
MacPhail said while residents are aware of mistakes the NDP made, such as the fast ferries fiasco, they also remember Liberal leader Gordon Campbell as a mayor who didn’t serve residents of the East Side.
Lee said the Liberals will make education an essential service to prevent school strike disruptions, create a charter preventing offloading to municipalities in order to stabilize local property taxes, double the number of school spots for high-tech trainees, and increase the number of doctors, nurses and health care workers.
