Leelanau County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan.
The Leland River is the primary body of water, forming Lake Leelanau due to a dam near the mouth of the river at Leland.
In the county the population was spread out with 24.40% under the age of 18, 5.70% from 18 to 24, 24.20% from 25 to 44, 28.30% from 45 to 64, and 17.40% who were 65 years of age or older.

The Leelanau Peninsula is a peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan that extends about 30 miles from the Lower Peninsula of Michigan into Lake Michigan.
Leelanau State Park and the Grand Traverse Light are located at the northern tip.
Lake Leelanau is run 13 miles through the middle of the peninsula and covers 8,700 acres.
