In 1331 Lefkada was conquered by the Andigavians, while in 1334 it becomes the feud of the Georgie.
Lefkada was occupied by Fransisco Morozini, the capital was transferred outside the castle, at the position it remains up untill now, called Amaxiki and the Lefkadites loose control of the port and commerce falls in the hands of the Venetians.
In 1807 Lefkada is conquered by the imperial French only to fall in the hands of the British in 1810, who incorporate the island to United State of the Ionian Islands.

My sister Vivi and her husband George had joined us for the trip, and their young son with our little girls got to play in the sand all day, as we relaxed under the hot sun and watched the people and the paragliders who flew over the beach.
Our trip from Arta to Lefkada island had also a visit to Porto-Katsiki beach scheduled but we found it impossible to fit both beaches in the same one-day trip.
We did return within a week to the island of Lefkada though, this time determined to reach Porto-Katsiki beach that was voted as one of the best in Greece (it was number two behind Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia).
