Coalition wrangling finally draws to an end
One of the major stumbling blocks was that the conservative Homeland Union could not find ground for compromise with the leftists who were asking for the portfolio of prime minister and several other ministerial posts.
The conservatives were reluctant from the outset to negotiate with the leftists, who were holding talks on two fronts.
The leftwing block of the three coalition partners could hold up to 84 out of 141 seats in the country's parliament.

Leftwing Nutjob | The Voice of Progressive Podcasting
The blogosphere was awash in speculation last week after word broke that the junior senator from New York state, Hillary Rodham Clinton, may, in fact, be reconsidering a run for president in 2008, choosing instead to remain in the Senate and replacing Harry Reid in the leadership position.
But this Leftwing Nutjob believes that the possibility was always there—as it is with a handful of other Democrats—who have chosen to support the war but refused to square that sentiment with the rest of the party.
The Leftwing Nutjob Podcast and Blog are one man's sardonic and irreverent take on the latest political happenings both in the United States and abroad.

Elia Kazan -- leftwing critics won't let go
It was Dreyfus who maligned Elia Kazan by falsely claiming that his anti-communism "lasted barely as long as it took to testify in front of the House of Un-American Activities Committee." That is a lie, as we shall soon see.
These are the same leftwing hypocrites, led by the likes of Polonsky, who successfully worked for years to block Kazan's nomination for the lifetime achievement award given each year by the American Film Institute and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
Fortunately the brilliant works of Elia Kazan and Dmytryk will be remembered so long as people value art and genius, and long after their leftwing critics have disappeared into well deserved oblivion.

On Wednesday, during his second visit to Chiapas in just five days, the charismatic leftwing leader appeared on a stage in Tuxtla's main square and began to work his magic.

The front page of the New York Times today features a story by Jason De Parle about the Federalist Society's mysterious "sway" in the legal community and what this might portend for the Supreme Court if Judge Roberts is confirmed.
The Federalist Society is principally an intellectual forum where conservatives can discuss with liberals issues that they couldn't discuss in law school venues because the totalitarian intolerance of leftwing law professors who control these schools effectively silenced them by excluding them from its platforms.
The fact that the Federalist Society is an issue at all is a testament to how the witch-hunt is the essence of leftwing politics, and how successful that politics is. Imagine if conservatives had made Ruth Bader-Ginsburg's leadership role in the ACLU an issue, or her member of the American Bar Association.

MANILA, May 30 (Reuters) - Philippine senators threatened on Tuesday to block an anti-terrorism bill in the upper house of Congress amid political bickering that could derail the law's passage for another year.
Opponents and allies of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in the Senate said they feared the government could use the tough new law to crack down on political enemies after five opposition supporters said they were abducted and tortured by the military.
Senators said they were also alarmed by the disappearances and murders of nearly 100 leftwing activists and journalists since Arroyo came to power in 2001.

As Bevan goes on to note, it is far too early to tell how this will play out in the 2008 elections - but I will make my early prediction.

On the other hand, if the Democrats are forced to pick an avowedly leftwing nominee, the center/left Democrats will bolt the Party.
