Legal Assistant Today - Everything I Know About Law School I Learned My First Year-Sep/Oct '01   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
During the first two years of schooling, while other students without legal backgrounds are struggling to understand terms, learning how to read and brief a case, sweating and weeping in confusion, you can zoom directly to the content of the course and understand the elements of the law more quickly as a paralegal law student.
Legal assistants like Meghan Behrens, a paralegal at the Santa Barbara County Counsel’s Office and a second-year law student at Santa Barbara College of Law, said law school was always a goal for her.
You must realize that while paralegals are more superior in their knowledge of legal procedure than the typical, inexperienced law student, practical legal experience isn’t always applicable in law school where the subject matter is almost entirely theoretical.

Legal technicality - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The term legal technicality refers to the technical niceties and exactitudes of legal procedure, which is divided into criminal procedure and civil procedure.
Defenses based on technicalities are known as "procedural defenses." It is often used in a pejorative sense to denote aspects of legal procedure which, if not attended to or followed, can change the outcome of a legal proceeding in ways seemingly contrary to the interests of justice.
In almost every case, well-established technical aspects of legal procedure have been developed and reinforced in a long tradition of appellate court decisions; usually such doctrines arise because of a perceived need to protect the rights of a specific class of persons who might otherwise suffer injustice at the hands of the legal system.

California Legal Separation Law & Procedure - Family Law Attorney (Lawyer)
Although California legal separation proceedings can be maintained on the same grounds as divorce actions, a judgment of legal separation does not terminate marital status of the parties as husband and wife.
A legal separation proceeding is similar to any marriage termination proceeding in that a judgment of legal separation adjudicates support, custody/visitation and community property rights and obligations under the same standards and in the same manner as a judgment of dissolution.
The parties to a legal separation action cannot enter into a new marriage unless and until the existing marriage is dissolved by death or judgment of dissolution; but the judgment finally adjudicates the financial issues between the parties, including determination of their support obligations and a division of their community estate.

An Introduction to the Athenian Legal System
Ariston’s decision to charge Conon with assault had a variety of procedural consequences involving the length of the trial and the risks borne by the prosecutor and defendant, but his choice did not restrict his substantive arguments at trial to the assault charge.
Once a man decided on a legal procedure, the first step in bringing suit was to draw up and personally deliver (accompanied by witnesses) to his opponent a summons to appear before a magistrate to answer a particular charge.
The procedure was probably meant, in the first instance, to prevent litigants from bribing or otherwise corrupting the jurors, but a likely side effect may have been to turn this step into a ceremony that would impress litigants, jurors, and bystanders with the seriousness of the occasion.

Reasons for a legal separation rather than a divorce might be as follows: religious reasons; or keeping the other party's health insurance in force; a method of communication to the other party that "unless you clean up your act and work on the marriage, I'm out of here."
The dissolution process or legal separation is begun by the filing of a petition.

Centuries of legal disputation have taught us that is not possible to understand law as a static construct.
The essence of law was not, originally, the courtroom in which the trial took place (which was throughout most of our history, after all, the royal courtroom rather than a special legal court) but it was rather the trial procedure which unfolded in that courtroom.

Legal Procedure in Solon's Laws   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
ISTORY OF Among Solon's three "most democratic" reforms, according to the Athenaion Politeia 9.1, were two major changes to legal procedure, the introduction of the graphe type of litigation (whereby others besides the victim of a crime or his immediate family could initiate a suit) and the introduction of ephesis (or transferal) to the courts.
My understanding of early Greek legal procedure differs from the more common view that it was heavily dominated by automatic procedures such as oaths or ordeals.
By bringing together all these pieces of evidence and placing them within the context of other information we have about early legal procedure, we will be able to see more clearly in what ways Solon was trying to change (or not change) legal procedure in Athens.
