Legio I Germanica, the German legion, was a Roman legion, levied in 48 BC by Julius Caesar to fight for him in the civil war against Pompey.
During the Batavian rebellion of 70 AD, Legio I Germanica was one of the legions (the other was Legio XVI Gallica) that went to help the legions besieged in Xanten.
Legio I Germanica was merged with the surviving men of Galba's VII legion to form a new one, Legio VII Gemina.

It is believed to be identical to the Legio I that took part in the Spanish campaign against the Cantabrians conducted for Augustus by Marcus Agrippa and was disgraced there.

Legio I Italica was enrolled by Nero circa 67 CE to augment Roman forces in advance of a projected expedition against the Albani tribe living near the Bosporus straits, the entrance to the Caspian Sea.
Legio I may have gotten its first chance to fight in 46, as part of Caesar's hasty campaign against the stubborn holdouts of Pompeian resistance in Spain.
The activities of Legio I are unclear during this period, but it seems reasonable to presume that the legion transferred across the Adriatic Sea with the great majority of Octavian's army to fight the Antonian forces at Actium.

Legio XIII Gemina - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Legio XIII, known as Legio XIII Gemina ("twin legion") after 31 BC, is one of the more historically noteworthy Roman legions, as it was one of Julius Caesar's armies used in Gaul, and also for his civil war.
Legio XIII was levied by Julius Caesar in 57 BC, before marching against the Belgae, in one of his early interventions in intra-Gallic conflicts.
During the Gallic wars (58-51 BC), Legio XIII was present at the Battle against the Nervians, the siege of Gergovia, and while not specifically mentioned in the sources, it is not unreasonable to assume that Legio XIII was also present for the Battle of Alesia.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Legio
It figures for the first time in a Latin episcopal notitia, dating probably from the eleventh century, where it is given under the name of Legionum, between the Bishoprics of Diocæsarea and Capitolias (Tobler and Molinier, "Itinera Hierosolymitana", I, Geneva, 1880, 343).
The See of Legio is, therefore, identical with Maximianopolis; in the Middle Ages both cities were identified, being near neighbours, though really distinct places in the same see.
Legio is now Ledjun, well known in the Bible and in history under the name of Mageddo.
