Legio II Adiutrix Pia Fidelis (supporter, faithful and loyal), was a Roman legion levied by emperor Vespasian on 70, from Roman navy marines in Ravenna.
There are still records of II Adiutrix in the Rhine border in the beginning of the 4th century.

 Legio II Adiutrix
Legio II Adiutrix: one of the Roman legions.
During the civil war of 193, II Adiutrix supported the governor of Pannonia Superior, Lucius Septimius Severus, took part in his march on Rome, and probably in his campaign against his rival Pescennius Niger as well.
It is extremely likely that Gordian used II Adiutrix when he waged war against the Sassanid empire (238) and that Claudius II used the soldiers during his campaign against the Visigoths (269).

Legio II Italica, meaning from Italy, was a Roman legion levied by emperor Marcus Aurelius in 165 AD together with Legio I Italica at a time when the Roman Empire was fighting both in Germania and in Parthia.
Legio II Parthica was a Roman legion levied by emperor Lucius Septimius Severus in 197 AD, for his campaign against the Parthian Empire, hence the cognomen Parthica.
Legio II Traiana Fortis, Trajan's strong legion, was a Roman legion levied by emperor Trajan in 105 AD, along with Legio XXX Ulpia Victrix, for the campaigns in Dacia.

In 70, after the Batavian rebellion was suppressed by Vespasian, X Gemina was sent to Batavia in Germania Inferior to police the lands and prevent new revolts.
From 71 to 103, the legion was stationed at the base built by II Adiutrix at Oppidum Batavorum, the present day Dutch city of Nijmegen.

The II Adiutrix went on to serve in Britain — at Lincoln in ’71 and at Chester in ’75.

The recipient was a Gaul serving in ala II Hispanorum et Aravacorum, hence not a local recruit; he was probably conscripted for Domitian's Dacian wars.
RMD IV 223 (AD 112) is of importance for the battle honours of cohors II Batavorum, the title civium Romanorum demonstrating that its men had won a block grant of citizenship for their courage in the Dacian wars.
The other titles recorded here, pia fidelis ('loyal and faithful'), could be a subsequent Trajanic battle honour, but might alternatively be connected with the suppression of the revolt of Saturninus in AD 89.

Legio III Cyrenaica is probably the most active legion, and we have auxiliaries (Menapians) attached to us.
There is also a Legio III Italica in Connecticut, based in the Stamford area, recreating the era of Marcus Aurelius, late 2nd century AD.
I'll have to inquire around, though I'm still forming II Adiutrix perhaps some shared info is possible.

It is thought that the founding of Legio XX may have been as early as 40BC in support of one of Octavian’s campaigns.
Their previous base at Kingsholm was taken over by the Legio II Augusta.
By 79AD, the camp had developed into a large military base for Legio II Adiutrix Pia Fidelis, who were withdrawn to support Domitian in the Dacian wars in 87AD, replaced by the XX and the main base for the rest of their time in Britain.
