Legio XIX was a Roman legion levied (drafted into military service) in 41 or 40 BC by Augustus.
In 30 BC, veterans of the XIX legion were settled near Pisa, and after that, the rest of the legion was allocated in the Rhine frontier with base camp at Cologne.
The XIX legion participated in the German Campaigns of Drusus (13 to 9 BC) and Tiberius (8 to 5 BC).

Vindonissa was occupied from 46 to 69 by the Legio and two auxiliary cohorts, first the III Hispanorum and VI Raetorum, and later the VII Raetorum equitata and the XXVI voluntariorum civium Romanorum.
Legio XXI Rapax was part of 40,000 Roman soldiers loyal to Vitellius that marched on Rome and were victorious.
Legio XXI Rapax's legionary symbol is the Capricorn.

LEGIO II ITALICA Raised by Marcus Aurelius in 165 AD, it was stationed at Albing in Noricum (Austria) and was subsequently moved by Commodus, circa 185, to Lauriacum (Lorch), on the Danube (Donau) River, west of Vindobona (Vienna).
LEGIO XVI GALLICA Raised by Octavian in 41-40 BC; the Legion, from 30 BC onwards, was stationed on the Rhine frontier.
The remainder of the Legion surrendered to the rebel Iulius Civilis in 69 and was subsequently disbanded by Emperor Vespasian and reconstituted as Legion XVI Flavia Firma "Flavian Steadfast".

Due to the fact that they were destroyed in the battle in the Teutoburg Forest in September 9, the history of the legions XVII, XVIII and XIX is not well understood.
During the civil war of 49-48, both Julius Caesar and Pompey the Great employed legions with these numbers, but we do not know what became of them.
The legionary emblem of legion XIX is not known.
