Space Marines (Warhammer 40,000) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Now the traitor Legions are theoretical entities more than anything, scattered into warbands or empires of various sizes, sometimes battling among themselves yet always seeking revenge against the Imperium that cast them out.
The biology of a member of the Adeptus Astartes is vastly superior to that of a normal human.
The Space Marines were originally divided into 20 vast Legions, each Legion being based on genetic material from one of the original Primarchs.

I argue that there is a close analogy between the entities and processes of biology and culture, although the parameters that describe each domain often differ in their rate and frequency, and perhaps in the dynamics of the evolutionary process they undergo.
A phenotype in biology, and especially in taxonomy, is the whole array of organismic characters of an organism, and is distinct from its genotype.
To lift a phrase of Williams' (1992) there is a dearth of shared descriptors between the entities of biology and the entities of culture.

PSB Vol 43 No 3: Book Review: Historical
This was an onerous task that demanded knowledge and skills from diverse areas of biology and that frequently ended in blind alleys, irresolvable puzzles and endless frustration for the parties involved; yet according to Bowler, these were the most important concerns for most "evolutionary biologists" in the late nineteenth century.
The book is also a valuable contribution to our understanding of the history of biology as it exhumes a number of important figures buried by the historical record, and brings attention to the painstaking process of phylogeny construction.
Given a book of this length intending to survey the history of evolutionary biology, and given that the late nineteenth century saw an explosive growth in the botanical equivalents of the same areas highlighted for zoology, the absence of botany is a serious omission.

The Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, also known by its acronym MOLLUS or simply as the Loyal Legion, is a United States military order dating back originally to the end of the Civil War.
Though it has never had official government sanction, at its height in the late 19th century, nearly all major military officers were members.
In response, a group of officers who had fought in the Union Army formed the Loyal Legion as a society of officers who, having proven their loyalty in battle, pledged to defend the country.

 Trek to Legion
The history of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the comics is convoluted, contradictory and a victim of DC comics need for retroactive continuity.
Although in the history of the Legion according to DC comics there is a precursor of the Legion of Superheroes named L.E.G.I.O.N. this was merely an attempt by DC comics to do a sort foreshadowing and provide an antecedent for the Legion of Superheroes to provide inspiration for the Legion.
According to original Legion of Superheroes continuity Superboy was the inspiration for the creation of the Legion of Superheroes.

 Bible Biology
An earlier article ("What About Scientific Foreknowledge in the Bible?" Fall 1990), debunked the fundamentalist claim that the truth of verbal inspiration can be verified by places in the Bible text where writers demonstrated knowledge of scientific facts that were unknown at the time the Bible was being written.
Proverbs 6:7-8 described the ant as an industrious creature, "which having no chief, overseer, or ruler provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in harvest." No one disputes the ant's industry, but what is this about its "having no chief, overseer, or ruler"?
And if the Bible is riddled with scientific errors, they should wonder too about the truth of that often parroted claim that the Bible is inerrant in all details of history, geography, chronology, etc., as well as in matters of faith and practice.

A Traveler's Guide to the History of Biology and Medicine
Basically what he accomplished was to show that two or more compounds of identical composition (he worked with tartaric acid) may display totally different properties, and he demonstrated that this was due to isomerism (i.e., the different arrangement of the atoms within the molecule).
With this demonstration, stereochemistry (space chemistry) may be said to have begun, and the effects of this on chemistry, biology and medicine have been profound.

BBC - GCSE Bitesize - SOS Teacher Religion religion, science and the environment Legion
A legion was a unit of the Roman army, of between 3000 and 6000 men.
Certainly, the language of the passage suggests that there were many demons in the man, as the demons plead "Don’t send us into the pit." The word "us" is significant.
However, there is an alternative reading of the text, where the word legion is seen as a miswriting of "legya" meaning soldier, implying that there was but one evil spirit.
