Barney Hajiro, one of 21 Medal of Honor recipients from the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, will receive another honor next month for his part in the liberation of France in World War II.
French Consul General Fredic Desagneaux is expected to present Hajiro, 88, with his country's Legion of Honor with the rank of "chevalier" Oct. 14 on deck of the French surveillance frigate Prairial during its port call here.

This one is in real "GOLD" and the enamel is high quality and the wreath in in high releaf but doesn't show in this image but several of the leaves are raised.
There are so many variations of the Legion of Honors that one could spend a lifetime collecting them.

On February 24, 2005, the Government of France will honor the seven surviving American civilian pilots who voluntarily flew many hazardous supply missions to the besieged French Expeditionary Forces gallantly holding out at Dien Bien Phu (North Vietnam).
In addition, his 50,000-man army and legions of laborers dug trenches closer and closer to the French perimeter and even dug tunnels under some positions.

For many months, Johnson was preoccupied with efforts to evacuate the Czechoslovakian Legion, a hardened band of Czech and Slovak prisoners of war and deserters from the Austro-Hungarian army eager to return to the fight.
Before departing Russia in 1922, Johnson received the Chevalier of the National Order of the Legion of Honor from France for his courage in helping evacuate French troops.
But when the Institute later asked him to become its president, he wrote that he was a “railroad man, not a college man.” On a return trip to Russia in 1930, the government asked him to head its railway system, but Johnson turned down that offer, too, due to failing health.
