They allowed Dave to redesign the Legion's costumes, some of which had remained unchanged since the late 50's and were badly out of touch with the early 70s.
Its all-Legion issue (#9 I think) was a quick sell-out and remains extremely hard to find to this day (I know I would love to get a copy!) The characters were even used in merchandising, such as T-shirts and the 7-11 Slurpee cups.

In the case of Legion Of Superheroes #125, however, it is both an end and a beginning.
The Legion is a group that has long enjoyed some of the most devoted fans in all of comicdom.
Too many fans apparently see Legion Of Superheroes as a book that is only for the older fan who has been reading it for a couple of decades.

In the comics, the Legion are a large (and I mean LARGE) team of superheroes from like the year 2970 (or basically 3000, whatever).
The Power Rangers are easily considered superheroes, for the sole fact that basically the entire planet knows who the Rangers are and consider them superheroes.
In fact, the Rangers were basically meant to be superheroes in the American dubs (the Japanese sentai had them as ancient warriors, similar to the Ronin Warriors, and secret agents fighting monsters).
