 The Legion of Super-Heroes
The Legion's "animal branch" is known as the Legion of Super-Pets.
The Legion makes its headquarters in the city of Metropolis in the thirtieth century A.D., where it is primarily active.
Since Superman has the power to travel in time, it is possible for him to journey to the thirtieth century A.D. to visit the Legion either during the period when they are teen-agers or during the period when they are adults.

 THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES (I)
The Legion appears on the third story of the issue whose main character is Lex Luthor when he was a boy, who invents a device to destroy Superboy but he is saved at the end by the Legion who see trhough a screen what is happening and they send Lightning Lad to save him.
The Eighth appearance of the Legion is in ADVENTURE COMICS NO.290, (November 1961 cover by Curt Swan & Stan Kaye), "The Secret of the Seventh Super-Heroe" by George Papp in wich appear an impostor of Sun Boy.
We have seen how the Legion of Super-Heroes has been gaining ground into ADVENTURE COMICS that was a Superboy magazine since 1946 until his disapearing in solo adventures and that will happen again in the other magazine SUPERBOY.

 Legion Chronology: Pre-Zero Hour
The adult Legion is attacked by Douglas Nolan (twin brother of Ferro Lad), under the mental domination of the Legion of Super-Villains.
To that end, the Trapper created Superboy, the Legion's historic inspiration, and connected his world to the Legion's so that the Legionnaires would believe Superboy was part of their history.
At the request of Superman, Comet the Super-Horse visits Zerox, the Sorcerer's World and meets Prince Endor, who casts a spell that enables Comet to become human as long as he is in sight of a passing comet.

Streaky the Super-Cat of the Legion of Super-Pets
After noticing that the Super-Pets had all touched the jinx-stone that seemed to be causing the Legion bad luck, yet were not affected by it, the Legionnaires took them along to investigate the unlucky world of Thaun.
Adventure Comics No. 322 (July 1964) "The Super Tests of the Super-Pets"
The other animals were doubtful as, compared to their super-strength he was "just a blob", but pledged that he could join if he passed a series of tests given to him by each of them in turn.

Comixfan Forums - COMICS FOR DUMMIES #10: THE FALLEN LEGION
And, so, the Legion of Super-Heroes was born (admittedly, ten years after their first appearance, but an origin story is an origin story).
I was really liking the abbnett/Lanning legion, they indroduced the cadets and Legion World as well as shakari (whats to become of her).
Though, if it does turn out to be another steamroller ride through history, then I say to those of you out there who are fans of the most recent incarnation of the Legion...

 Beppo - Supermanica
Beppo wears a colorful red and blue costume modeled after Superman's and is a member of the Legion of Super-Pets.
In April 1965 Beppo journeys through the time barrier to the mid-nineteenth century to help Superman and the other super-pets teach a well-deserved lesson to "cruel junkman" Cyrus Atwill (S No. 176/1: "The Revenge of the Super-Pets!").
A playful Kryptonian laboratory monkey which survived the explosion of the planet Krypton—as the result of having been launched into outer space in an experimental space capsule—and ultimately landed on Earth, where, like any native of Krypton, it acquired super-powers like Superman's and became known as Beppo the Super-Monkey.

 The Alternate Legions
I consider the "Basic State" or "original" Legion universe to be the Earth-1 universe that contained the vast majority of Legion stories that appeared in the thirty-year period 4/59 to 4/89 in ADVENTURE, ACTION, SUPERBOY, SUPERBOY and THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES, and TALES OF THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES.

Shortly afterward, another made itself a pet of the Legion, even going so far as to become a member of the Legion of Super-Pets, but after several years, the being known as Proty II grew tired of insulting its own intelligence, and quit, remaining, however, on good terms with the Legion.
This being, who joined the Legion of Super-Heroes as Kid Quantum, had his cover blown and was forced to fake his own death and disappear in mid-2974.
No Legionnaires were present, but a few of their friends were, and they successfully defended the building from the attack.

 The Hembeck Files!
These three were the founding members of the Legion, and the ranks swelled fairly quickly through an interesting plot device: the cattle call.
Essentially, wanna-be heroes would demonstrate their abilities in front of the assembled Legionnaires, and be voted on.
Now think about this for a moment from the writer's perspective- you're writing one of these try-out stories, which means you've got one or two potentially good characters to add to the Legion's ranks.

 The Legion of Super-Heroes
When the human Legionnaires are incapacitated by villains, Saturn Girl gets the idea of forming the Legion of Super Pets, an association of Krypto the super-dog, Streaky the super-cat, Beppo the super-monkey, and Comet the super-horse.
One might note that the Legion tales as a whole treat the female members and the male members with complete equality, and that the leader of the Legion is Saturn Girl, a role she is seen performing in great detail in most of the stories.
This is one of the happiest of all Legion tales.

 LMBP Outpost Reception Area
"So be it," purred the Spirit Otter, "A Lady of Balance, of the Compassionate, shall you be." The golden bubbles formed a glowing nest around Candace, lifting her into the salty winds, which carried her to the enchanted Land of Internet and to the exciting Kingdom of the Legion boards (greatest Champions of Balance!)
Mounds of bubbles that filled the cliff and flowed down to the little bay until the narwhale paused in it's eating of krill to joust with the cascading bubbles of light that burst with 'giggles' and 'whoops' whenever his magical horn touched them.
As the bubbles gently set her down in this longed for kingdom, the Sea Otter's voice drifted through the threads, "Thence-forth, shall you be known as Shadowplay in Candlelight, Lady and friend."

 Fanzing 45 - June 2002 - Amazing Animals Quiz
The cartoon that he draws interestingly enough is Justa Lotta Animals a funny animal version of the JLA that includes Super Squirrel, Wonder Wabbit and Green Lambkin among others.
Oh how I wish the answer was C. I had to put down he was part of a team, because while getting a handle on who created a given character is difficult in comics, it should be even more so in television, which usually has multiple writers.
As near as I can tell, the character was never super until the Zoo Crew was formed.

"Legion of Super-Heroes", "Legionnaires", "L.S.H." and all related persons, places and things are owned by DC Comics Inc., and are used (in the finest fandom tradition) with great homage and respect, but without permission.
I first discovered the Legion of Super-Heroes in 1973 when Cockrum, Grell and Drake Burroughs were new kids on the block and Superboy was really Superboy.
I'm unable to explain exactly what it is about the Legion of Super-Heroes that makes it so special to me. Although it is a decidedly mainstream comic, it has been kept alive for more than three decades by a small but feverishly loyal cult following.

And once in awhile theyd have a story about the Legion of Super Pets or The Reserve Legion.I remeber 1 where they summoned Jimmy-he was all excited thinking there could be a galactic war or something, and they wanted him to write a series of law enforcement articles.
There used to be a comic in the 60s-70s 'The Legion of Super Heroes'.It took place in the 30th century.I think it was my favorite comic-i liked the various different characters and their powers and the future setting. There were 25 legion members-some of them with great powers and some not so great lol-example:
1 story had the Legion the Reserves and the Super Pets all being captured and their powers neutralized.Yeh-i really liked the Legion.

Volume Two of the Legion of Super-Heroes Archives is bright, colourful, campy fun (much of the humour quite unintentional).
DC Archives: Legion of Super-Heroes: by Michael Kaiser, Comic Collector
What a pleasure to soak into this book a little every night before crawling into bed as my dreams could then be populated by giant puppets, a little doll town and severl versions of monsters (usually shaped, like many of the aliens encountered, as some form of lizardy thing).

 Golden Omelettes
The fans who cared about continuity and knew all about things like the Legion Of Super-Pets were angry that their expertise and love had been not only rejected, but publically erased!
Back then, DC Comics had just published a series called Crisis On Infinite Earths, which dealt with the company’s wretchedly tangled backstories by simply declaring that none of it had ever happened and that Superman, Batman etc. would simply start their adventures again from scratch.
The only people who were happy were people like me — 12 years old and a new DC reader, who suddenly found the company publishing comics designed precisely to get me to buy them.

Over the years, we've had a number of great adventures, but mostly we flew to the 30th century and beat up on the Legion of Super-Heroes a lot.
