Legionville School Patrol Training Center Inc. was established by The Minnesota American Legion for the purpose of training Minnesota young people in the correct school patrol procedures.
Those that attend Legionville usually return to their schools as designated leaders that assist with the training of the other school patrol members.
Legionville, located on the shores of North Long Lake, Brainerd, Minnesota, is a training center with a definite purpose.

 Dr. Bausman at Legionville
The following address was given by Dr. Bausman at the dedication of the Legionville and Logstown markers in June, 1918.
The photograph accompanying this article was included in his 1907 History of Beaver County, and shows the author standing in a trench at Legionville.
In June, 1792, Wayne arrived at Pittsburgh and began the organization of an army, which was named "The Legion of the United States.- In November of the same year, he proceeded down the Ohio River to a point seven miles above the mouth of the Big Beaver, where he went into winter quarters.

The greenstriped mapleworm is defoliating some red maples in Crow Wing County on the west side of the Mississippi River on the northern edge of Brainerd, along the southwest side of Mollie Lake north of Merrifield, and along the Legionville road bordering the southeast side of North Long Lake.
By July l9th of this year, 90% of these mapleworms had grown to l and ½ inches and should be pupating in the duff within a week or two.
This pest was first seen in l997 along the Legionville road, and during the next 2 years it spread to several red maple areas in Crow Wing, Cass, Morrison and other central Minnesota counties, causing heavy defoliation in many of these areas.

He named the site Legionville in honor of the Legion of the United States, the name of the new Army, which had been reorganized into units similar to a present-day combat team, with a composite of arms in each unit, or sub-Legion.
At the new camp equipment was constantly in short supply, not so much because of its slowness in arriving as because of its poor quality, which caused heavy losses through wear and breakage.
With O'Hara remaining at Legionville, it fell to one of the deputy quartermasters, John Belli, to furnish Wilkinson's advance contingent with militia essentials.

He set up a training camp at Legionville, present-day Ambridge, Pennsylvania, and drilled and trained his soldiers to create a reliable and effective force.
In March, 1793, Cornplanter visited Legionville and urged Wayne to hold back his army until United States commissioners could talk with the western Indians, and Wayne agreed in accordance with Washington's plans.
The failure of these negotiations was Wayne's signal to move in the fall of 1793.
