The Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico is the legislative branch of the government of Puerto Rico.
The structure and responsibilities of the Assembly are defined in Article Three of the Constitution of Puerto Rico.
Finally, a lower age for the new unicameral legislators is proposed in comparison to the one required in order to become a member of the Senate — it is, however, the same age required in order to be a member of the House today.

The government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico shall be republican in form and its legislative, judicial and executive branches as established by this Constitution shall be equally subordinate to the sovereignty of the people of Puerto Rico.

Section 11 The salaries of the Governor, the Secretaries, the members of the Legislative Assembly, the Controller and Judges shall be fixed by a special law and, except for the salaries of the members of the Legislative Assembly, shall not be decreased during the terms for which they are elected or appointed.

On March 1, 1902 the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico approved the Law for the Consolidation of Certain Municipal Terms by which it eliminated the municipality of Salinas and added it to Guayama as a ward.
This situation remained until 1905, when a new law of the Legislative Assembly revoked the previous one and gave back to Salinas its character of municipality, with all the wards it had in 1902.
