First Book of Nephi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nephi records that Jesus would be born to a virgin, conceived by the Spirit; that Jesus would be baptized; That there would be twelve disciples; that he would heal the sick and bedeviled; that he would be judged by the world; and that he would be crucified.
Nephi is swept away by the spirit and sees the vision his father had and is given an explanation.
Nephi is commanded by the Lord to make the small and large plates of Nephi.

 Storyline
Nephi is told that if any of his descendants choose to join and marry the Lamanites their offspring will also have a darker skin.
Nephi’s people love him, make him their king and call themselves “Nephites.” Laman and his followers are cursed by God for their evil behavior, both spiritually and physically.
Lehi tells his two oldest sons, Laman and Lemuel, that he wishes they were more interested in spiritual matters and in being obedient to the word of God.

Nephi was dismayed and saddened by the wickedness of the people, and went to the Lord in prayer for comfort and inspiration on behalf of those that still believed (3 Nephi 1:10-11).
Nephi was the first of the twelve disciples chosen by the Savior when he appeared in the new world (3 Nephi 11:21-22, 19:4).
Nephi wrote many great and marvelous things that the Savior spoke, but Mormon(2) was forbidden to write all of them (3 Nephi 26:6,11-12).

Lehi's Trail - The Lihyans, "People of Lehi"
The Dedanite kings were in power when Lehi and Nephi made their visit 600 B.C. Dedan became a rich nation, thanks to the taxes the Dedanites extracted from each camel caravan, moving northward heavy with frankincense or other spices.
Perhaps Lehi and Nephi baptized them, ordained them to the true priesthood, which they had lost in the intervening 600 years since Moses, and maybe even left them with extracts from the Plates of Laban (the Old Testament), or at least read the plates to them, as Lehi did to his own family (1 Ne.
(1) We advance the theory that these Lihyanites were children of Nephi’s converts referred to in DandC 33:8, and that they took upon themselves the name of Nephi’s father, Lehi, prophet and leader of the group.

Lehi told his wife, “I know that the Lord will deliver my sons.” (1 Nephi 5:5) This reminds us of the declaration of the Lord that “A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.” (JST Mark 6:6) Sarai did not believe him.
Lehi’s departure from Jerusalem and the description of Laman and Lemuel with their resistance of the Spirit along with Nephi and his desire to know and understand the things of God.
The interesting thing is that Nephi takes Ishmael (unlike Zoram) completely for granted, never explaining who he is or how he fits into the picture the act of sending for him seems to be the most natural thing in the world, as does the marriage of his daughters with Lehi's sons.

1 Ne 8:1 we had gathered together all manner of seeds…of grain…and…fruit
This upset Lehi, as he feared that the two eldest sons would be cast off from the presence of the Lord.
Nephi further stated that those who hearkened and held fast to the word of God would never perish (See 1 Ne 15:24)…Holding fast to the iron rod builds faith in Christ and his work….
Lehi never gave up on his sons, even when a vision had shown him that they would not partake of eternal life.

The Annotated Book of Mormon - Mosiah Chapter 7
And behold, they met the king of the people who were in the land of Nephi, and in the land of Shilom; and they were surrounded by the king's guard, and were taken, and were bound, and were committed to prison.
And Ammon took three of his brethren, and their names were Amaleki, Helem, and Hem, and they went down into the land of Nephi.
And it came to pass when they had been in prison two days they were again brought before the king, and their bands were loosed; and they stood before the king, and were permitted, or rather commanded, that they should answer the questions which he should ask them.

And Lehi named this site of his landing Bountiful, The name stuck and was used by the Nephites when they lived in the Country of Zarahemla and realized that this was the same Land of Bountiful that Lehi had landed in and named Bountiful.
After Lehi's party landed a little south of the Isthmus of Darien in the land, they planted and had a bountious harvest replenishing their food supplis, then they named the land Boutitful, which is identified as Bountiful later.
It was near this same site of Lehi's landing in the Land of Bountiful, that Hagoth would build his ships and set sail back into the Pacific and populate the land North and the Polynesian Islands.

7 Lord has Lehi send sons back for Ishmael’s family who take journey; Laman, Lemuel and some of Ishmael’s seek Nephi’s life and bind him; he prays and bands are loosed; forgiven, they all arrive at Lehi’s camp.
16 Lehi’s sons and Zoram marry Ishmael’s daughters; Lehi given Liahona ball to guide their travels; Nephi breaks bow, ball directs him to game; Ishmael dies; Lord chastens Laman for wanting to kill Lehi and Nephi.
10 Lehi’s prophesies of a Messiah to come in 600 years and of Israel’s scattering; Nephi desires in faith to have Lehi’s vision also.

 Alma 24
Cultural : While this verse is Mormon’s summary, it nevertheless provides a very perceptive clarification of the nature of the Lamanite attack against the Anti-Nephi-Lehies.
The attack is centered on the land of Nephi, not on Middoni or Ishmael, because Nephi is the seat of the over-king.
What we must do, according to the text, is have a large body of people meet in Midian, some people, if not all, going to Ishmael, including the king of Nephi, and then we must have everyone show up in Nephi.

 2 Nephi
2 Nephi 15:24 24 Therefore, as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, their root shall be rottenness, and their blossoms shall go up as dust; because they have cast away the law of the Lord of Hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
2 Nephi 2:21 21 And the days of the children of men were prolonged, according to the will of God, that they might repent while in the flesh; wherefore, their state became a state of probation, and their time was lengthened, according to the commandments which the Lord God gave unto the children of men.
2 Nephi 14:5 5 And the Lord will create upon every dwelling-place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for upon all the glory of Zion shall be a defence.

A Black Hole In The Book of Mormon - TheologyWeb Campus - Curriculum
For instance, it mentions the fact that Lehi lived in Jerusalem; that Jerusalem was a walled city; that Zedekiah was the king; that Jeremiah was a prophet at that time; that Lehi's group traveled by the Red Sea; that they came to "the sea" (the Indian Ocean?) and departed by ship to the New World.
According to Nephi, the plates from which these pages were derived were reserved so that "the more sacred things may be kept for the knowledge of my people." (1 Nephi 19:5) As soon as we get past these pages, however, we run into many detailed accounts of bloody wars.
In the fifteenth verse of the same chapter, Jacob informed his readers that "the people of Nephi, under the reign of the second king, began to grow hard in their hearts..." This terse reference to the "second king" is the last reference to any king for hundreds of years.

 Helaman 5
Nephi and Lehi are in the land of Nephi.
He must have had the information from some record of Nephi and Lehi, and it is probable that they understood that the Lamanites would be coming because of their understanding of the operation of the cult of war and sacrifice.
Nephi and Lehi appear to be able to move freely through the land of Zarahemla, even though it was under Lamanite political control.

A Social History of the Early Nephites
Nephi names those who leave, including "all those who would go with me." When we account for the named or mentioned individuals, there is very little room for "all those who would go" in the original landing party.
The second event that indicates the presence of a larger population is the declaration of Nephi as king.
Nephi would be "likening" this future situation to that of his own community.

Helaman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Helaman's youth, he was given the plates of Nephi by his father, Alma, and commanded to keep of a record of the Nephite people on the plates.
Chapters 45 through 62 in the Book of Alma were abridged by Mormon from Helaman's record.
Shortly thereafter, Alma, Helaman, and his brothers, Shiblon and Coriantor, went among the people to preach to them.

 The Revised Book of Mormon
In 2 Nephi 3, Lehi relates prophecies made by Joseph of Egypt which promised that young Joseph's seed would not be destroyed and that a "choice seer" would be produced from his progeny.
King Benjamin gave the "ball or director," which guided Lehi's group, to Mosiah II and stated: "Therefore, as they were unfaithful they did not prosper nor progress in their journey, but were driven back, and incurred the displeasure of God upon them; and therefore they were smitten with famine and sore afflictions" (Mosiah 1:17).
Furthermore, Nephi says, "the Lord God promised unto me that these things which I write shall be kept and preserved, and handed down unto my seed, from generation to generation, that the promise may be fulfilled unto Joseph, that his seed should never perish as long as the earth should stand.

 Bomdict A
Lehi is referred to as the youngest son of Helaman in 43 B. He is lastly mentioned in 12 B. In his time the Lamanites conquered the land of Zarahemla.
A subdivision of the land of Nephi proper, though it is sometimes called the land of Nephi; which distinction the student will do well to note that he may not, on account of the confusion of names, mistake the whole country for that which was merely a state or province of it; and vice versa.
He was probably born in the land of Nephi from whence he fled when his master was slain; and it is probable that he spent the remainder of his life in the land of Zarahemla.

 Times & Seasons » The Anti-Nephi-Lehite Puzzle
I believe this was a crucial thing that probably was told Nephi, and thus preserved a lot of life of the souls that otherwise would have been damned, or at least had not the opportunity for progress.
I know what the spirit told Nephi because we have the record of what the spirit said and I have faith that the record is true.
One thing I might say that was different about Nephi, is the fact that he was directly inspired by the Lord.

Some Help For Those Disputing the Reformed Egyptian Language
Nephi’s slaying of Laban and the justification given to him by the Lord for doing so can now be seen as instruction that focused on the culture of Nephi’s era.
Lehi’s epic journey from Jerusalem to the New World endured in the memory of his descendants, who saw it as evidence of God’s miraculous power much like the Israelites’ earlier deliverance from Egyptian bondage.

Nephi defended his people with his own arm (Jacob 1:10), as did Zeniff (Mosiah 9:16) and Benjamin (Words of Mormon 1:13).
And thus ended the seventh year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi; and there was continual peace in all that time.

 Alma3
Now behold this Lehi was a man who had been with Moroni in the more part of all his battles; and he was a man like unto Moroni; and they rejoiced in each other's safety; yea, they were beloved by each other, and also beloved by all the people of Nephi.
And behold, Moroni had appointed Lehi to be Chief Captain over the men of their city; and it was that same Lehi which fought with the Lamanites in the valley, on the east of the river Sidon.
And Lehi pressed upon their rear with such fury, with his strong man, that the Lamanites in the rear delivered up their weapons of war; and the remainder of them, being much confused, knew not whether to go or to strike.
