Lehigh County had relied on fees it charged trash haulers per ton collected in the county.
Thirteen municipalities in Lehigh County are mandated by the state, based on their population, to provide leaf collections for their residents, which means they must dispose of the materials through composting.

Resolved, that the thanks of this House of Representatives are due, and hearby tendered to the five hundred and thirty soldiers from Pennsylvania, who passed through the mob at Baltimore, and reached Washington on the 18th of April last, for the defense of the National capital.
The men of Lehigh County served honorably and bravely throughout the war.
