More recently, the club dropped into the 2nd division of the Leicestershire League, in part due to the disbanding of the Central League and the subsequent introduction of the 6 Leicestershire clubs that left to help form it and part due to the decline of cricket in Ashby and the close surrounding area.
County Cricket continued at the Bath Grounds throughout these years and the atmosphere of the age is captured in the photograph below.
Club cricket was conducted at a leisurely pace and was inevitably confined to those with the time and the money to be able to play during a time of severe economic recession.

Leicestershire Cricket Ground Co bought 16 acres of land from the Duke of Rutland in 1877 and spent the massive sum of £40,000 on developing a cricket club, athletic track and hotel.
In 1901, the county decided that the ground was too far from the town centre to be economically viable, and they switched to the more central Aylestone Road.
Leicestershire finally reacquired the ground in 1966 and throughout the 1970s and 1980s the venue was improved.

The County Club was so formed at a public meeting at the Shire Hall,Chelmsford on Friday 14th January 1876.The meeting decided their was such a desire to former a County Cricket Club and the County ground would be in Brentwood.
Paul, who was 33 at the time, told the club that his form had suffered from four years of captaincy and that he wanted to concentrate on his own cricket.

Former England Women's player Alexia Walker has been appointed by Leicestershire County Cricket Club in a role which will focus on the use of the Video Data Capture project that has been introduced into county cricket this season.
