Leigh Nash - Music Downloads - Online
Bio: Leigh Nash is perhaps best known as the pixie-like singer with the heavenly voice from Sixpence None the Richer, a CCM group that enjoyed considerable fame in 1999 with the single "Kiss Me." She had started the band at age 14 with schoolmate Matt Slocum.
Though the end of Sixpence left her a little distraught, Nash realized it was time to move on, and she and her husband moved from Nashville to Los Angeles.
Nash's original musical inspiration came from classic country heroines Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Tanya Tucker -- whose songs she used to learn on guitar long before the Sixpence days.

Popjournalism.ca - Interview - Leigh Nash flies solo
Nash, at the young age of 30, is already considered a veteran of that scene, having recorded her first album almost sixteen years ago as the vocalist for pop group Sixpence None the Richer.
Nash says a number of factors contributed to the group’s amicable break-up, including her pregnancy and business-related problems with their labels Squint and Reprise, which delayed the release of their completed, and ultimately last studio album Divine Discontent for two years.
I explain to Nash that her pie might have not been a hit because, to some Quebeckers, the maple leaf is a very political symbol, one not always seen as patriotic by the French-speaking population.

Leigh's dulcet tones describe an invisible wall that has gone up between two lovers, and their attempts to feel their way along it and try to find an opening in order to reconnect.
Leigh almost blunders right away as the acoustic guitar begins strumming and she sings the hackneyed line "Dreamed I was in the desert without any love", but from there on, the song is 100% golden.
I'm not sure how Leigh's voice manages to be so light and airy, and yet her words carry such dogged determination - again, she sells the sentiments she's expressing, and that makes this the perfect "let's try again" song for a couple on the rocks who wants to give it another go.

Leigh Nash - Blue on Blue (Album Review)
Leigh Nash may be known best as the impish, angelic singer from one-hit-wonder band Sixpence None the Richer.
Nevertheless, Blue on Blue, her solo debut, is a surprisingly insightful collection of love songs that not only are set in a pop-oriented vein but also find her voice to be in fine form.
Throughout the set, Nash’s vocals are childlike, thus providing an interesting juxtaposition to the maturity of her lyrics.

Personnel: Leigh Nash (vocals, background vocals); Pierre Marchand (background vocals).
On her 2006 solo debut, ex-Sixpence None the Richer singer Leigh Nash presents a set of songs that recalls the light alternative-pop of her former band, but also opts for a fuller sound that plays wonderfully off her reedy voice.
This aesthetic change is largely due to the presence of producer Pierre Marchand, who is renowned for his work with Sarah McLachlan, and brings a similarly atmospheric feel to Nash's tunes (see the dreamy "Along the Wall").

Leigh Nash - Blue On Blue (Buy for £9.97)
For my money Leigh Nash has one of the best, and most immediately recognisable, voices on the whole American CCM scene and her eerily other-worldly contributions to those Sixpence None The Richer classics will be getting an airing on the Cummings' stereo as long as the Cummings have a stereo.
Producer Pierre Marchand has wisely plumped for laid back, fairly stripped-down organic accompaniments allowing that voice to drift and soar and purr across piano, acoustic guitars and, on the song "Nervous In The Light Of Dawn", duduk.
The songs themselves are predominantly mid-tempo and slow with lyrics (largely penned by Leigh) making their point without Bible sloganeering nor obscure poetic metaphor.
