Innaresting piece in the Washington Post about the Los Angeles neighborhood of Leimert Park, which is a sort of holdover from the days of late 1960s and 1970s fl activism and ethnic culture.
Many of the Leimert Park regulars were activists in the '60s and '70s who declined to give up the good fight -- like John Caldwell, a criminal defense lawyer in his forties whom I encountered on a street corner.
Anyway, Leimert Park itself sounds like a cool neighborhood to visit, especially for the jazz and blues clubs mentioned in the article.
